If wanna call it a win when 90% of the people who originated from Africa conspired to vote against a White Woman then you can claim victory. To me, it is a giant leap backward for all of us who have worked our entire lives for Civil Rights. Prejudice is not determined by skin but by the bias of the mind.
What sore loser crybaby bullshit.
all black people are from Africa? that one is news to me….
wow JB a stunning comment when you say all of us who have worked for civil rights but precede b y talking negative about blacks I assume you aren’t including yourself in the civil rights lump..
pathetic
How DARE they, JB…how DARE they!
Maybe they thought a vote for Barack is a vote for a brand new Cadillac?
pwnd
So…who is the new photoshop guru? You unintentionally introduced us to JB, but I’m thinking that wasn’t the person. There wasn’t nearly enough confederate references made in the pic for him/her.
In response to JB (and to extend DHB), way back when I was bartending (back around ’94 or so), a very interesting debate raged among a couple of my customers. One was a Caribbean-American (as he called himself – I will explain in a minute) and the other was an African-American.
The latter was railing on race issues and used “African-American” as an all encompassing term. This enraged the other guy, who happened to be a Hatian national. He went off that “not all blacks are African!” Those were his words and I will not forget them. He chastised the second guy for being racist-by-ignorance in that he made the wrong assumption about all blacks being African-American. He furthered by exclaiming he was a multi-generation Haitian who had recently received his American citizenship. He insisted that while his far-away roots and all of humanity can possibly be traced to Africa, they have been so diluted, how could he possibly call himself an African. He went on for about ten minutes, finally receiving an apology from the second guy.
For obvious reasons to those who know me, I couldn’t participate with meaningful comment, but it was great to be a witness to the debate. All the way to, and including, the second guy apologizing and then acknowledging the need to further recognize geographical origins. The two of them ended up having their meal together and exchanging info before leaving. I do remember the nice tip, too! 🙂
So, JB, take your perverse paranoia and shove it in your pie-hole. Racism sucks.
I remember a story from a few years ago where an Olympic broadcaster was directed to refer to an athlete as African-American because of the color of his skin. I believe the athlete was from Ghana.
At first, Rick, I didn’t get what you said, but my lightbulb just went off. This person wasn’t American in any way?
From another country (maybe Ghana) and representing another country. The producer was so wildly in tune with the PC vibe that even when that fact was mentioned to him, his response was ‘Still…’
