Breaking News: Wells Fargo Auto Finance has Anthrax Scare

This isn’t something you will here on the news though. Wells Fargo Auto Finance had a hush hush suspicious powder in a box that was delivered to their mailroom. I don’t have all the details but I know for a fact that the package was opened and the building was NOT cleared out. People were allowed to come and go from the entire building with the exception of the 3rd floor.

But that isn’t the only issue of late surrounding WFAF. There has been quite a bit of action lately at the Chester Pa site that calls Wells Fargo Auto Finance its headquarters. Just this past Monday, it is believed that an employee set off a sprinkler in the women’s restroom with a lighter. Eyewitness’ said a young lady was questioned in the false alarm and may have been taken away for further questioning.

That wouldn’t be so bad, but about 3 weeks ago, a bomb threat was made to the company too. Things have been really going down hill for Wells Fargo Auto Finance. They have quietly laid off several hundred employees since December 2007. Bad management decisions coupled with the stumbling economy have sent this division of Wells Fargo spiralling down to the point where a drastic decision is going to soon be made regarding what type of product they plan to continue providing to the Auto World. WFAF has several billion dollars in outstandings, several thousand repo’d cars in it’s possesion and tens of millions of dollars in bad loans getting written off or re-aged each and every month of 2008.

I guess these things can tend to happen to a company that has amazingly low morale. A company that silently lays off its employees and tells the remaining employees nothing about the true financial status of the company will tend to create a considerable amount of tension.

What further troubles me though is when a company has a legitimate suspicisous substance come into your building and it doesn’t make the news something is wrong. If the fed was in the building and parts of the area were quarentined by state and/or federal officials, I would think the media should have been aware….
