Brace Yourself. WV and KY are about to join the list of states that “matter”

Filed in Uncategorized by on May 8, 2008

I’m warning you to brace yourself because I fear we’re heading into the “blue-collared, white male” argument again.

Nevermind that Hillary was always going to win these states, and even though Obama may make strides in Kentucky I fully expect HRC to paint herself as the candidate who overcame insurmountable odds to pull off these stunning victories. She’ll claim these states, these voters, prove her electability argument.

So, take a deep breath. The “blue-collared, white male” card is about to be played again. The real question is… will the MSM kill the narrative or play along?

Update: It’s already started.

The MSM is starting to bail on Hillary as candidate; they want to get on to the main show

Too true! The media loves a side show!

They’ll jump on this, maybe not for long, but they will jump!

Today’s wall street journal tells the story on the front page.

    Clinton $6.4 million in debt.

Party officials eager to stop interparty brawl

Obama having weathered her best (cheapest) shots has won the day.

    It is over.

Adding to the drama: Obama ready to declare victory on May 20.

So he claims the nomination, starts trying to work on party unity then and she becomes a real obstacle to that unity. Which is what I’d bet is the narrative the press will go with, in addition to trotting out all of the times that Wolfson publicly claimed 2025 to be the magic number, not the new goalpost.

It will be a “train wreck”, and the media will eat it up. Hopefully you’re right about narrative, Cassandra. Hopefully they’ll bury her.

Side note: After IN and NC I was okay with riding this primary season out. I’d foolishly thought Hillary would tone down her rhetoric and use the time to pay off her debt. Her blatant, divisive comments today may cost her more than the Presidency. Bill’s legacy and her senate seat may be in danger as well.

There are about 1,000 objectionable facets to this ball of dung, but topping the list for me is the notion that if someone is smart enough to get a white-collar job, he or she must not be “hard-working.” It’s the same BS that the Democratic Party has promulgated for years, pretending that unions speak for all workers. There are very few white-collar unions (airline pilots?), but then, even blue-collar jobs are as likely as not non-union these days.

And, for those who think Ms. Untrustworthy has been “fully vetted,” there’s this:

The “hard-working” thing is less about unions than it is an appeal to economic class; which is why repubs pretty successfully use this same appeal to the same group of folks, except attaching all kinds of culture war crap to it.
