My First Outgoing Robocall

Filed in National by on May 16, 2008

The campaign had some credits, so if you are a Democrat who lives in Kent County you might hear me on your voicemail when you get home.

Hi!
This is Jason Scott from the blog Delaware Liberal. I’m calling to remind you to come to Pete Schaeffer’s farm, Pleasanton Abbey, this Sunday from 11am to 3pm, in support of Jack Markell, our next governor.

There’ll be hayrides for the kids, some of the best brick oven pizza in the state, and plenty of time to talk about the challenges facing Delaware.

Pete’s address is 1548 Persimmontree Lane Dover. Tickets are $50 per person or $60 per family.

To RSVP, call Jack’s campaign at 302.283.1420 and ask for Kennedy.

Thanks, and I hope to see you there!

I’m so sorry we can’t make it. Graduation season has hit!

Jason, is it just me, or is your name popping up all over the place.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see you signing autographs at the next Drinking Liberally. BTW, when is the next Drinking Liberally?

    Hi,

    Interesting.

I run the National Political Do Not Contact Registry at StopPoliticalCalls.org. We are working to reduce unwanted political robo calls.

As I testified at the U.S. Senate for Sen. Feinstein, robo calls are not effective. Yale professors Green and Gerber have done extensive research and this is their headline quote: “As for robocalls, Green and Gerber say they “might help you to stretch your resources in ways that allow you to contact the maximum number of people, but don’t expect to move them very much, if at all.”

They continue, “As for the efficacy of robocalls, which Don Green says have “a perfect record of never having worked.”

If you would like to learn more, let me know.

    Shaun,

Blog spam is not effective either…

  6. X Stryker says:

I disagree – robocalls are 100% ineffective at changing minds, but they’re actually pretty good at reminding people to vote or informing them about an event that they might be predisposed to attend. This robocall isn’t intended to move anyone, just to get the word about about an event.

To avoid increasing traffic at DelaWonk, I’ll post my reply to #7 here as well:

Now I know why you’re standing with Daniello. You’re a big crybaby, just like him, just like all the traditional Dems. boo-hoo! They said mean things about us!

Pathetic. Truly pathetic. There are only two possibilities: You know what kind of mean, gutless bastards they are and don’t care, or you don’t recognize such behavior for what it is and are therefore just like them.

If you know what I’m talking about, don’t bother responding. You would then know about even more dishonorable behavior than I do — stuff that goes a long way beyond name-calling.

If you don’t, you’re just a peon who likes extra gruel when the serving spoon comes around.
