Adventures in Maverickyness — Flip Flops Are Not Just for Kids Anymore!

The biggest drawback to the Democrats not officially settled on a candidate is that John McCain gets to fly beneath the press radar, flip-flopping his legacy away, out of view of the folks who nod their heads when they head “moderate” and “McCain” in the same sentence.

So now he has flip-flopped — again — on immigration amnesty policy. If you remember, McCain was a strong supporter of the Bush effort for paths to citizenship and for a guest worker program (collectively called amnesty by people on the right) and that strong support almost gave movement conservatives enough leverage to derail his candidacy for President. He went down to the CPAC meeting in February and told those folks what they wanted to hear — he would work to secure the borders first, then they’d talk about accommodating plans for controlled immigration.

Well now he’s thrown his movement conservatives back under the immigration bus and gone back to his comprehensive reform position. The Raw Story article I linked to has some of the right wing reaction to this, but these guys probably ought to throw away their sunscreen and get used to the smell of rubber and diesel because they’ll be spending a good portion of the summer underneath the Double Talk Express bus.

So how does this square with the “character” and “moderate” narratives again?

Harris McDowell Treats Leg Hall Like His Personal Piggy Bank

We all know about the SEU and how McDowell is trying to create an “Green Energy Fiefdom” where he can sit on a throne and touch favored underlings with his gilded scepter when it strikes his fancy, but get a load of this from an anon contributor…

Middletown is trying to change part of its charter and that change needs to be passed by the Delaware General Assembly.  It is the kind of thing that routinely sails through both houses, but this one is being held up in the Senate by Harris McDowell who is using it as leverage with the town council to approve a zoning change for the house that was left to him by his father.

Unreal.

The guy is truly beneath contempt.

Hey, words speak louder than action

You see when we say we support the troops….we mean it and that should be enough for you to need to hear!

We’ve never faced a situation like this, not in the Vietnam War, World War II, or the Korean War, where so many military are in danger of losing their homes,” said Paul Sullivan, executive director of Veterans for Common Sense, a Washington-based advocacy group started in 2002 by Iraq and Afghanistan War veterans. “No one asked them for their credit score when we asked them to fight for us.”

Personally, I don’t feel sorry for them.  It’s what they signed up for…the mortgage I mean, well, I guess the service part too.   But honestly, it’s their fault for believing in trickle down economics and that the government was going to take care of them.   It’s not like they are promised 100% medical, 3 squares, clothing, housing and death benefits.  I guess, they figured they could just join the military, die for their country and all of a sudden, the Bush administration would give a shit about them.  I blame the victim in all this.  The military is the last place a soldier, sailor or marine should expect cradle to grave care.

It’s not like lenders preyed on these people or ever have in the past.  Figuring out an E-5 can afford is like trying to find porn on the internet.  Who has time for that.  NO, it’s the dumb ass E’5s fault for not knowing what he can afford, fighting for his country and being the victim.

GET BILL O’REILLY ON THE FUCKING PHONE TO TEAR APART THIS ASSHOLE ENLISTED GUY THAT WENT AND BOUGHT A FUCKING HOUSE HE COULDN’T AFFORD!!!!

*I try to look on the brightside of this though.  If they get killed while serving their spouses get like $200k in insurance money.  That would easily keep them from being foreclosed on. *
