This is worth another look
I’d forgotten about this article written by Frank Rich in December 2007.
Interesting and prophetic. Well, maybe not when it came to the Republican nominee, but otherwise, Rich nails it.

Do I ever love Frank Rich.
Beyond his ability to look past the daily flashes of the shiny and shallow coming from the media to clearly look at issues over a longer term than the overnight Neilsons. He certainly is not always right, but it sure is fun to look at the whole board through his words.
You can also look at this piece as an early indictment of the traditional media and how their narratives of choice (as well as the candidates who try to shape them) still don’t capture what happens away from campaign spokespeople and surrogates.
I stumbled across this article and was struck by how on target he was when it came to Obama. He saw the movement brewing, felt it. The media as well as the Clinton campaign missed the building momentum.
Another theme that he got right was the GOP outright giddyness at the prospect of facing Hillary Clinton.
Even today Rove was trying to push weak minded Democrats toward Clinton.
