Is Hillary Finally Free?
I wonder how many of Hillary’s life and political decisions were tied to a desire to be President.
- Would she have left Bill?
- Would she have voted against the war?
- Would she have triangulated her position on welfare and poverty?
I’m serious. She has amassed a huge amount of political capital and I think is positioned to take Ted Kennedy’s place as the most powerful Democrat. She really can’t lose her seat for any single vote or even a pattern of votes. New York loves her. She is completely free to vote without fear of being portrayed as “soft on terrorists” or “soft on crime” or “a bleeding heart liberal socialist.” She can actually just take the stand that she wants to take, rather than the one that will become a talking point in a Presidential debate.
I’m starting to think that this isn’t such a bad deal for any of us, especially Hillary. The Lioness of the Senate. Perhaps she should dump Bill.

That is an excellent point. The irony is that if she was more “herself” and less “herself as office seeker” when the Iraq war vote rolled around – she’d be the nominee.
BTW – sorry about posting on top of you. I got all riled up about that Fox thing.
don’t sweat it. Busy night.
I understand that President is the brass ring simply because it is a singular position. I just wish we, as a nation, focused on the balance of power; the three equal branches of government.
Hillary, IMO, is perfectly suited for the Senate. I believe she would be stronger there than in the White House.
El Somnambulo believes she belongs with the Supremos. As one who has survived mucho Battle Royals, the Beast Who Slumbers knows it is easier to triumph when there are only 8 black-robed opponents in the ring with you. And some of them may even have your back.
I totally agree about the HRC being the next Supreme Court Justice…she would be just perfect….holding my breath to get the current bench into the next administration!!!
Speaking of summer reading books…I just finished The Nine by Jeffrey Toobin….& I highly recommend it!!!
Given what we all think that she has done — formed her political positions and even her private life with the goal of becoming president — how can anyone have any reasonably informed opinion of what she’ll be like now that she’s “freed” from running for prtesident?
Heck, she might do what she can (subtly, of course) to insure that Barack Hussein Obama loses, so that she can run again in 2012. If Mr Obama does lose, we’ll still not see the “real” Hillary Clinton (assuming that there is such a thing), because she’ll have another four years that she’ll have to triangulate.
Is it possible that there’s no more there than we’ve already seen?
