New Republican Slogan: It’s Every Man for Himself

Filed in National by on June 14, 2008

Talk about jumping ship.

The Times reports that with the GOP for once running seriously behind Democrats in campaign fundraising, Giuliani is offering to hold fundraisers for down-ticket Republicans. But with an important catch — he gets to keep part of the haul for himself.

Geez, with friends like this…
Party unity, anyone?

Rudie just proves that he is a true Repuk keeping some for himself sort of like Cheney getting a kickback from construction in Iraq.
I hope this isn’t a surprise to anyone

Not surprised, but this seems so ‘in your face’.

The On Your Own Society at work — and isn’t it interesting that Rudy! is not fundraising for the top of the ticket.

The NRSC giving up on a couple of senate seats sort of flies in the face of the “we’re in yur base, takin yur Hillary voterz” crapola. They aren’t even hanging on to their own voters for crying out loud….

It’s always been everyman for himself, and the biggest crook who gets away with it wins.

Well said, Becky. You might check out a mirror sometime this century.

Nonetheless keep pumping your bile and poison into the well bitches (I mean that non-genderwise btw).

No Becky it has not always been that way. That is the law that says the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must. We did not find that law; it is as old as Moses. It has also been advised against since Confucius, Buddha and the Old Testment prophets. It was this lack of respect for the property of others and coercsion to steal their stuff by the trickiest that the founders advised against as a model of “european decadence.” And it is in part what I think makes all the social conservatives so upset they wind up on a Bejesus freak out over even as they dupe the common people.

While every person should learn to be independent and interdependent working for the good of one another, you need something to tell you what is good to work for….outside of the market. Who wants to tell me it pays to be a teacher as opposed to Michael Jordan or Britteny Spears in trying to influence kids decisions and lives? You need virtue in yourself to maintain a republic and that means putting character before wealth…. “what you are speaks so loudly it is hard for me to hear what you say…” as the quote goes. So independence is a good goal, ruthless self-survivalist fantasies turned into reality look a lot like ancient Assyria, or modern North Korea or Nazi Germany.

Wow, this thread took a philosophical turn. I was just pointing out that the GOP had abandoned their normal talking points when it came to party unity. Since the eighties republicans have prided themselves on being on the same page – maybe not behind the scenes, but they always put on a good front. I’m seeing a lot of cracks among the ranks.
