Our strategy can be summed up this way: As the Iraqis stand up, we will stand down.”

Well that was 3 years ago or 1102 days.

So….the Iraqi’s are standing up now and look what we want to do…

U.S. and Iraqi negotiators have abandoned efforts to conclude a comprehensive agreement governing the long-term status of U.S troops in Iraq before the end of the Bush presidency, according to senior U.S. officials, effectively leaving talks over an extended U.S. military presence there to the next administration

We don’t want to stand down now?  I don’t get it

oh, hey….gee, hey look, another “immunity” issue.

The most contentious unresolved issue is the legal immunity of U.S. troops and Defense Department personnel from Iraqi prosecution for any alleged crime. “We’re trying to come onto the same page,” a second U.S. official close to the negotiations said. “But with U.S. forces in potential combat situations, we have some real bottom lines.

What is intriguing about this stalemate is that they are also deadlocked over a timeline for withdrawal of US forces. A timeline that even though the Iraqis want it, John McCain is still set against.

Don’t you know that the Investors haven’t received their promised Return yet?!?

Just one thing; Iraq still has no air force, because Saddam had his pilots fly their planes to Iran rather than be captured or destroyed. Maybe when President Barry has that friendly chat with Ahmadinejad he can ask him to pretty please give the Iraqis back their planes.

  4. oh, so now they don’t know what’s best for them and we have to stay?

So you are saying that Iran is going to attack his Shia buddy?

  5. G Rex says:

No, they’ll have to defend themselves against those evil Zionists Liz is always raving about. And how are they supposed to wipe out those pesky Kurds without helicopter gunships?

  6. haven’t you been reading this freaking blog for the past couple of days?

All they f’ing need are guns! They end Tyranny and oppression.

    sheesh

    sheesh”

Not without people who are ready, willing, and able to do so.

  8. see G,

    Mike has my back.

  9. G Rex says:

But Don V, the Kurds have guns of their own, which makes it harder for them to be wiped out. Haven’t you been reading any of Mike’s responses on this freaking blog?

  10. hmmm, I’m perplexed. On one hand all they should need are guns.

on the other it seems like having guns won’t mean shit.

on one hand God made guns for people to have them. Like voting but NOT driving.

I got it, guns can take helicopters down! I saw it on “BlackHawk Down” ahaha pwnd bitch!

see guns win! but they don’t kill, only people kill…with guns

  11. G Rex says:

Pwned my ass, the heli in Blackhawk Down was taken down by an RPG.

The only one who seems concerned about the Christians plot in Iraq is Doonesbury after all they were free to practice their religion under that evil Saddam

Well considering what happened to the Kurds under Saddam they absolutely should be armed.

  14. how would guns protect them from mustard gas and WMD’s though…

Guns the Alpha and the Omega

the more you speak the less credible you become. Me? I know I’m full of it. That’s what makes me so great!

^ Typical liberal philosophy. We can’t win anyway, so let’s put down our arms, hide in a corner and wait to die.

Guns in the hands of potential victims don’t necessarily make murder and genocide impossible, (or crime for that matter – a gun isn’t a magical talisman) but they do make it a hell of a lot more messy for the perpetrators. I’d rather die fighting than just give up and not even bother to defend myself.

Funny thing DTB is that it seems only anti-gun folks like yourself ascribe all manners of “powers” to what is ultimately just an inanimate object.

Those who actually own & carry firearms see them simply as useful tools, no more no less.

  17. mike w. says:

DTB – If you knew you were going to be the victim of a violent home invasion tomorrow would you want a loaded gun in the house, or the cops on speed dial so they could transport a man with a gun to your house to protect your family?
