One More Day to File

The 62 District Strategy has been achieved in the Senate.   Democrats have recruited Michael Katz to run for Gavin Newsom’s…er ah… Charlie Copeland’s seat in the 4th.  He awaits the winner of a three way Republican primary.  We have recruited Gary Downes to face Republican Senator Gary Simpson in the 18th.    Democrats have a five seat majority (13-8), and with them defending three open seats, it is impossible for them to even gain seats this cycle.  Indeed, it will be a moral victory for the Republicans if they do not lose any more seats.   I say it is highly likely that the Democrats will pick up at least one, maybe two, of the open seats.  Probably the 10th, but the 17th is a possibility as well.

In the House, we are apparently not challenging Lavelle (11th), Hudson (12th), Manolakos (20th), Miro (22nd), Oberle (24th), Outten (30th), Blakely (34th), Carey (36th), Hocker (38th), and Lee (40th).

10 Republicans that we are not holding accountable.  That is unacceptable, but I am encouraged by Representative Gilligan’s comments last week that by 2010, we will be challenging every seat.  And there is still more time to file.  The deadline is tomorrow.

Below the fold there is a chart of all of the races this fall.   I am trying to find all the candidate’s websites, if they have them.   If you know of one that I do not have, post it in the comments.   Thanks.

Lifflander to Run Again

After Republican John Atkins was forced to resign from his office in disgrace, Democrat Barbara Lifflander and Republican Greg Hastings ran in a special election to fill the 41st District’s seat.   Hastings won.   Now Atkins claims he is a Democrat, and wants to run as a Democrat to get his old job back.

Thank God we have a real Democrat to challenge this drunken power hungry fake one.   For some unknown reason, people claim Atkins is popular in his district, and he may well win the primary.

Well, let me ask him one question:

Mr. Atkins, who are you voting for and supporting for President: John McCain or Barack Obama?

Lee: My Name is Toby

Do you remember the scene in Roots where the slave was being whipped incessantly for refusing his slave name, Toby?  For the past 48 hours, the batshit Republicans have been screaming their fool heads off and whipping Lee with his “Drivers Licenses for Illegals” comments that he made on WGMD.

After 24 hours of whipping, he said “I don’t me real drivers licenses, I mean one clearly marked as ILLEGAL.”

Today Kunta Kinte is no more.  He is Toby.

After careful consideration and consultation with many experts whose judgment I respect — and also after listening to people and hearing their ideas and how strongly this issue resonates with them — it has become clear to me that it is simply not a good idea to issue any official legal document to those who are in our nation illegally.
