Washington on the Delaware Shore
Today’s News Journal brought news about North Dakota Senator Kent Conrad’s Countrywide Mortgage on his Bethany Beach home. We have also seen Robert Novak hit many Fenwick Island pedestrians with his corvette.
Indeed, Delaware’s shore is the summer home of the Washington elite.
About one in seven property owners in Delaware beach communities live within 30 miles of Washington, according to a News Journal analysis of current Sussex County property records.
So who have you all seen in and around Delaware’s beaches?
Novak lives a few blocks away from me in Fenwick. I’ve seen the famous corvette many times. Pat Buchanan is also down here. My parents have run into him several times at Nantucket’s Restaurant. Saw Bill Press once.
Linda Carter (Wonder Women) is here as well!
My neighbor is a White House lawyer (although he has really great taste in music)
Needless to say Delaware Liberal is my lifeline in this here red country.
Now I know it’s time to do property re-assessments in Sussex….it is my understanding that some of the beach front million (+ -) cottages are paying around $800.00 a year in real estate tax.
Zip it, OSLWKWTD! 🙂
There is no need for property reassessments in Sussex. They should be just fine. They don’t have a huge year-round population to support.
Sure, they’ve lost quite a bit of transfer tax revenue over the past year, but that’s a temporary setback. When you consider they got .75% of each of those fat real estate transactions that occurred over the past few years, they should be fine…assuming they didn’t piss it all away.
Pissed it all away on road improvements, sewer, scholarships, and extra DE Troopers. Meanwhile, the Fed paid millions to pump sand so the millionaires’ houses would be protected from natural disasters like Katrina.
The smell of property reassessment is in the air and the suspected real reason for the retirement of three county councilmen.
I has been this way forever kathy Lee and Frank among others have a place near Bethany why so you think so much money and resources are spent down there
Q….I beg to differ: check the recent stats in the Snooze re: population in all three counties.
My cousins and I spent and evening with Stephen Baldwin a few years ago at the Upper Deck in Fenwick. Unfortunately for Baldwin, he went loopy. Unfortunately for Fenwick, Libby’s and the Upper Deck went out of business.
If I see Novak’s Corvette when I’m down there, maybe I’ll draw a chalk outline on his windshield.
Just take a walk down Bunting St., Another Mike. Novak is ocean front! (around Georgetown St.)
LOL! Libby’s upper deck? Oh, the memories!
