Melanoma is a malignant tumor of melanocytes which are found predominantly in skin but also in the bowel and the eye (see uveal melanoma). It is one of the rarer types of skin cancer but causes the majority of skin cancer related deaths. Malignant melanoma is a serious type of skin cancer. It is due to uncontrolled growth of pigment cells, called melanocytes.[1][2] Despite many years of intensive laboratory and clinical research, the sole effective cure is surgical resection of the primary tumor before it achieves a Breslow thickness greater than 1 mm. – wikipedia
Here’s the real worry for McCain, these biopsies take 2 weeks usually. Of course, I don’t know whether a Presidential candidate gets better turn-around time than my family, so it may be sooner. But he is running into the real possibility that he is diagnosed with melanoma just days before the Democratic Convention starts. Wow.
I’m gonna guess that he’ll get the results sooner.
Also, I’m going out on a limb here, he is not going to have to stand in line at Labcorp to get them.
OTOH, nonmelanoma skin cancers are far more common. Gosh, I guess you wouldn’t want to hear that.

Sharon – If so, great. But the likelihood of recurrence is greatly increased if the patient has a history.
I hope that it is not melanoma. I have gone through that nightmare in my family and it is not something to trifle with. McCain knows that. I am just saying that if it comes back as malignant, it will be politically damaging.
I hope it comes back non-malignant and he stays well.
