QOD
From the Dialogue Delaware column in the NJ:
Delaware Grapevine — the standard-setter of Delaware’s political comment lines — was lauded by everyone from politicians to fellow bloggers, all of whom expressed dismay at its demise.
I don’t think you can classify our reaction as dismay.
Are you dismayed? Can you go on?
By “dismay” they must mean happiness. As this site has pointed out, Cohen’s journalism does not rise to the level where it could be called wretched. But I’m here to tell you that her grilled Sea Bass is out of this world.
Another example of the MSM manufacturing news. No quote of bloggers lauding GV demise.
I very rarely read the Grapevine specifically because of Celia’s reputation as an insider and proponent of the Delaware way.
The few times that I did read it, the Grapevine supported that bias.
You could very accurately say that my life and my reading habits are completely unaffected by the Grapevine’s close.
Perhaps this is another sign that the Delaware Way is becoming a thing of the past? Or, more likely, Celia has decided that she’s played her role and it’s time to step aside and let the younger crowd take over. I never responded to her columns with the high dudgeon that is popular here, but we are both ladies of “a certain age” and as such perhaps I felt some empathy for her. Grapevine often made me laugh.
I must say, after dropping in briefly at Drinking Liberally last Thursday, I was so hopeful and excited by the youth and energy in that room. You all rock!
Celia was being paid a salary that was in line with her NJ salary, and that was many months before her writing began appearing in the Dover Post. The obvious conclusion to draw is that whomever was footing the bill decided it wasn’t worth it any longer.
She seemed to be civil and adults may give points for that.

Art, u may have a point there.
I’m happy that she quit for whatever reason. In the vacum of any statement from her I’ll assume thatbloggers like Mathews, Garrett and my homies at DL shamed her into quitting by exposing her for the fraud that she was.
I read her blog literally 3x’s….so lame
I did not always agree with the views she expressed, but because there are relatively few people even taking part in the political discussion in Delaware I am disappointed she is quitting.
In reading some of the comments, it almost seems like people would rather have silence than another point of view. Like everything else , the Grapevine needed to be taken with a grain of salt, but if the choice is between my choosing on my own to read it or not read it and to have the choice no longer be my option, I would choose to have an option.
‘ I’ll assume thatbloggers like Mathews, Garrett and my homies at DL shamed her into quitting by exposing her for the fraud that she was.’
Wow. You certainly have a high opinion of yourself and your influence.
