New Markell Ad on Seniors / Healthcare

Filed in National by on August 6, 2008

Jack is really flooding the state with television ads.  There has been a new one airing today concerning his record as State Treasurer in protecting seniors from insurance scams, and lauding his plans to bring universal healthcare to Delaware.  I don’t have the video yet, but if you have Comcast cable in New Castle County, you have seen the ad.

I would really love to know if these ads are moving the polls.   But we Delawareans aren’t afforded such luxuries as campaign polling, which means election night on September 9th will be fun beceause it will be unexpected, no matter what occurs.   The conventional wisdom says this race is tight.  I wonder if it really is at all.   For all we know, Markell’s ads are doing nothing and Carney is going to win by a wide margin.  Or, these ads are working and Markell is going to run away with this election.    With all the hooha over the Delaware Democratic buying party radio ads for Carney, if you are watching TV, all you are seeing right now is Markell ads.  Carney has been completely dark.

Which makes you wonder, what is Carney waiting for?   If he has the money, he better spent it now.

    Off Topic News

    John Kowalko has a Republican challenger in the race for the 25th District. It’s Stephanie Ulbrich’s brother-in-law, James something or other. The announcement is at the Newark Senior Center tomorrow.

    Cathcart made good on his threat. We gotta support John, our strongest and loudest progressive voice in the House. You can go to his website to volunteer or donate http://www.johnkowalko.com/default.aspx

    LOL. Some threat. Cathcart couldn’t get a bigger name, or even Stephanie to run again? Kowalko does need our support, but Cathcart does come up small here.

  3. Rebecca says:

    Yeah but, he’ll have Ulbrich’s machine at his disposal which is a lot better than starting from scratch. Don’t underestimate that.

  4. The Ulbrich machine is effective. This will be a tough race. John is more than able to run it, but the GOP will likely get dirty with this one.

  5. Rebecca says:

    The Ulbrich machine is strong, sneaky, and pissed-off. John is going to need our help.

  6. Rebecca says:

    Oh, back on topic. I don’t have any reason for this but I’ve got this gut feel. Carney doesn’t have the bucks.

    a race with 50% undecideds and them only seeing Markell… of course it is moving the numbers.

  8. NotSoAnon says:

    It’s not even close to 50% undecideds, Jed. More like 15-20%.

  9. There is no GOP machine in Newark, Nada. Kowalko will win big.

    Carney will win also, funny thing about Markell he can’t stop telling people how smart he is and his attempt to buy the election is sad.

  10. Is that Mike Protack?

  11. Gflat dim says:

    Agreed with see all.

    Being afraid of James and the Ulbrich machine is like being afraid of the penis of a lesbian.

  12. You people are some kind of whack.
    What polls are you speaking of? The poll that a few of you so readily smeared?
    Dare you use the in-house (meaning within campaign) poll data collected by Delaware Survey Research in June and July 2008?

    ~~~~~
    Kowalko will take this election on a walk but he can be sure of letters of support from his constituents.
    It’s not the Ulbrich machine that should worry Kowalko. It’s the Oberle machine, combined with the fact that his caucus won’t exactly be pounding the pavement for him.
