Obama-Clinton?
I have noticed a pattern from Obama. He is giving a lot of those on his short list to be nominee for Vice President a free week of press. First it was Kaine, then it was Reed and Hagel on his overseas trip, and now it is Bayh. Obama has also appeared with Webb in Virginia about a month ago.
I think all of these joint appearances serve to stir up press about who is choice is going to be, and also to lavish some favorable press on the runners up. My father has an interesting take on all of this. What if the nominee is going to Hillary after all? What if the meeting between them on that Friday night at Dianne Feinstein’s DC home was for him to tell her that she was his pick, but it had to appear to be his decision, rather than her or her supporters pushing him to pick her?
Your thoughts?
I think I’m going to be sick…no way.
When you see Bill acting all Giddy PRIOR to the VP pick, then I will think he is right. But Bill just yesterday or the other day was still pissy.
I’m thinking she’s smart and didn’t tell Bill. Bill’s performance yesterday marginalized him. He’s creating his own irrelevance.
I still haven’t ruled Hillary out.
Most interesting. Obama is running a smart and shrewd campaign. He is organized, I can say that for him. He knows how to play the game.
I have a running conversation with a co-worker (
Democrat, leaning Obama but not masturbating over him) who thinks that we haven’t heard the last from HRC and that something will happen at the convention that we least expect. This could be it, but I personally don’t see how her ego could stand it.
I don’t rule her out, either. Bill is a limp dick at this point.
Not going to happen.
Trust me.
Not going to happen. Period.
Benjamin, I love ya, but I think you MAY be wrong.
Reason: The Rust Belt.
Whatever one he chooses, guaranteed the pick will not be a “progressive” or a “liberal”. Don’t be surprised if he picks Chuck Hagel!
As for McMad I believe his pick will be Eric Cantor.
a few months ago I HATED the idea, but now I kinda like it.
Call me a flip flopped if you like.
It would sure make for an energized convention!
Pandora.
I guarantee you you are wrong.
First of all, you are savvy enough to know the idea VP moving a state is a myth.
Second of all, even if it was not, you know very well that Obama clearly does not consider this a major criteria and clearly wants a good working relationship with someone he may have to work closely with for eight years. Someone he can trust and get along with. Enough said. It is not me projecting. It is him SAYING so.
Third of all, even if we are to believe he would fool himself into thinking he could get along with her, you and I and he know she would COMPLETELY undermine his message of change.
And I dont think I need to point out to you they certainly polled the possiblity and unless you have drunk their Kool-Aid, you know that while Clinton may solidify some Democratic support that will probably go to Obama in the end anyway, she would completely turn off most independents which are the slice of the vote that is fiercely fought over right now. The electoral problems of Hillary Clinton have not disappeared because she was successful in the Democratic primary. Her spin is obviously very effective but EVERY poll conducted since then show Obama would lose more votes from picking her than gain. Once again, popularity with some sections of the Democratic base does not translate to the wider electorate and everybody seems to have forgotten that one of the major problems with the Hillary candidacy from the get-go was that she was far less electable than Obama (except at the end when Obama was attacked and she was being ignored) and she still is. The Republican base still hates her and would get energized and she still has tremendous baggage they would be more than happy to bring up and she still brings about irrational (well, less so than I originally thought) distrust among large sections of the electorate.
And that is assuming his calculations are purely about November and not about the horrible gridlock this would ensure for eight years. And we know they are not.
Sorry but it is not going to happen. Guaranteed. It is not me saying so. It is just common sense.
And let me clarify that *I* personally think there is a reasonable case to make for that ticket.
But there is just no way OBAMA is going to commit to pick someone he dislikes and distrusts and who dislikes him and distrusts him for a proveably flimsy and borderline made-up electoral advantage (who is more a remnant of the talking point about winning the state primary means winning the General election … which was false then and is still false now) in a situation where he arguably doing well on his own (because he IS doing well)
It is non-sense.
(PS: The wording was ambiguous above. It is the distrust that is less irrational than I thought after seeing her behavior. Every poll show lots of voters still instinctively hating her and as much as I would expect)
BENJAMIN,
THOUST IS AWARDED THE SEAL OF EXPERIENCE! FOR RECOGNIZING THAT HILLARY IS NOT GOING TO BE THE VP!
COMMENT UNFETTERED MY CHILD
I know I write long comments. LOL I try to fetter myself but I haven’t been succesful so far 🙂
Urgh. I reread my long ass rant and it sounded like I was lecturing Pandora.
Sorry about that. I was just trying to point out that these rumors are just not going to happen and I wish we would use our time more usefully than think about Hillary Clinton’s next move.
Pandora is still the Queen !
Maybe like Bush before him, who picked a scandalous choice… what do you mean, (the head of the committee picked himself.?????)
Obama will surprise everyone. Were he a loyalist and wanted to reward that person who carried the race for him, he would shock the world and nominate………………………
Michelle.
Benjamin, Relax, I’m used to people disagreeing with me! I just can’t rule her out. The energy would be Blinding!
Would be the smartest move he could make add a little fire to his run. She is an ass kicker McSame would be crying Uncle under her attacks or my second choice Biden who also is an attack dog. Why Obama has Kerry out there is beyond me. Kerry didn’t have the balls to defend himself against the Repuk attack machine and now he is being pushed as a surrogate for Obama
TRUTH TELLER,YOU ARE OLD AND CRUSTY THEREFORE BY BOTH THE GOP AND DEM STANDARDS AUTOMATICALLY YOU ARE AWARDED THE SEAL OF EXPERIENCE!

Old but not crusty.
You know the saying there may be snow on the roof but there’s heat in the basement
He picks her he wins in an absolute landslide. He passes on her and he probably wins but you never know. Then when the first Supreme Court opening comes around…….
Anon
you are right picking her gives us the white house for sure. Isn’t that suppose to be our goal. Willie Brown the ex mayor of SF thinks that would be the best pick for Obama. And remember all the changes we want can’t be obtained unless we win.
