Inflation highest since 1991…
Man, “I don’t recall” who was president back then and the 7 years prior to that…
Everything is fine. Vote McCain.

Once again, simple analysis from a Neanderthal mind. Recall these figures, dope. Indeed — the 80s were such a time of brutal inflation. Oh, and take a gander at 1992, too.
Working your way up to two syllable words yet, dimwitty?
totally agree with you pube.
The cost of living in the US surged at twice the rate expected last month to the fastest annual level in 17 and a half years, official data showed today, due to spiralling food and oil prices.
So then what is wrong with his post?
Even according to your table the 1991 comparison to the current rate seems right.
And seven years before 1991 — Reagan was President during the 80’s (when all of that brutal inflation was happening).
What is really bad about this inflation, unlike other periods of rising prices, wages and incomes are dropping. that makes this already dibilating problem even worse. Add in falling home values and the future is looking dim.
The irony is that republicans are already blaming the so called democratic congress for everything.
Christie O`Donnell had the nerve to blame our soaring deficit on the democrats on Wdel this afternoon. What a nitwit!
Isn’t the House of Representatives where all the spending bills come from?
Sharon
Yes it is congress has that power and the Repuks have held that Power from 1994 up until 2 years ago
yep and in 1 year they screwed it all up for us. good point.
After the President submits a budget, you mean?
But all of that has what — exactly — to do with the point of the post?
Oh, I wouldn’t say Democrats have “screwed it all up in 2 years.” Republicans showed they were no better than Democrats when it comes to fiscal responsibility. No, I was answering the charge that, somehow, Democrats have no responsibility for anything in the economy…even though they do control the pursestrings.
And while we are talking about inflation rates we haven’t seen in two decades, Americans are making less money too.
Rising prices also more than undercut wage increases during the past month. Average hourly pay rose 0.3 percent, to $17.99. But the effects of inflation and a cut in average weekly hours combined to reduce real weekly earnings by 0.8 percent. During the past 12 months, real earnings have dropped 3.1 percent, the largest decline since Nov. 1990, according to government statistics.
And Democrats are gonna fix this…how?
Say it with me Sharon, “Quarterbacks don’t matter.”
Yeah, but you don’t even have a 3d-stringer, Jason. Your guy is still playing peewee football.
But seriously. Democrats are going to fix this how?
Something can be done to stop this decline in incomes. We need to stop the wal- marting of america. Stop shopping at places that do not pay a living wage.
We need what only america doesn`t have of allthe industrilized nations, a national health care plan. We pay double what the rest of the world pays, yet the world health organization ranks us 35th in overall quality of care.
Well at least you admit it is broken, Sharon. That is the first step to recovery.
I don’t disagree with her (vomiting as I say it)
harry reid puss’ed out and could have cut off funding to the Iraq War. Our Balless leaders exist on both side of the aisle. The difference is the dems are complacent while the GOP f’s us
So, Ray K., you want to limit American choices in what they can and can’t buy? Is that going to bring down the prices of goods? And as for nationalized health care, you think taking even more in taxes and creating havoc in the healthcare industry is going to help the economy?
And I’m not necessarily saying it’s broken, cassandra. I’m asking what Democrats think they can do to fix the problems you see.
DBB,
Dems knew the “pull out of Iraq NOW!!!” plan would never work either in a logistical sense or a political one. Indeed, Democrats could have cut off funding, but then they would have been hammered when the body bags started rolling in. Or when Iraq destabilized and we had the ppl hanging off helicopters photos.
rayk is anti choice
It’s Bill Clinton’s fault.
Sharon-
On the war rant: So how many more Iraqis should we kill before we let them kill themselves? You have a number in mind? How many people’s blood is on our hands already (while we chide Russia about how 20th century and outmoded it is to invade sovereign nations – how rich is that)? How many more of our people need to die so we can build a JW Marriott in the Green Zone? I am curious exactly what would make all the murder acceptable…
Back to the original topic: We have the largest budget deficit on record this year… the fucked up thing is that does not even include the the $100 BLN+ for the war every year… that means we simply print the money and inflate the money supply – which is inflationary. You raise taxes or you weaken your currency and increase your future borrowing costs… but Oh!, because of a complete lack of regulation and cheap rates we created a massive bubble in the economy resulting in a collapsing currency… oil goes up in price from that and the instability created largely by our war… I don’t think anyone is going to fix this one for years…
The democrats had nothing specifically to do with this aside from their general complicity in robbing the treasury.., but please remember the degree to which the reps kept the out of the process post-911…
That said, they will all have their snout at the troth and steal all they can as soon as they have a dem in office…. Oh wait! The great Obama one will fix it all with a couple Chicago machine politicos and some hope!
We are all fucked.
