Rick Jensen Must Go

Filed in National by on August 22, 2008

Whatever else we do over the next year, we must committ ourselves to a concerted group action aimed at getting Rick Jensen off the air.

His daily lies and smears cannot be laughed off any longer. Jensen is a blot on our civil discourse and must be removed like a malignant tumor.

Letter writing campaign, protest, contact the WDEL sponsors…whatever it takes.

JENSEN MUST GO. It is now my mission to drive Rick Jensen off the air and out of Delaware.

Jensen – you have been served notice. There is nothing you can do to make amends. Your complete departure from Delaware radio is the only possible outocome.

  1. Belinsky says:

If you want to make a case against Jensen or anyone else, you’ll need to tape and transcribe. That’s how Media Matters and Think Progress have been able to disseminate the verified words of the most execrable of the nationally-syndicated right-wing talkers.

  2. jason330 says:

Great idea. Within two weeks I’ll bet I can record 350 outright lies.

    It is on.

  3. jason330 says:

Infact I was just on and although, 5 minutes prior to taking my call he said Obama was a socialist, whe I called him on it – he said that Obama “associates” with socialists.

  4. Joe Cass says:

I’d like nothing better than to pop that weasel. At your services.

  5. Hube says:

Typical “progressive” horseshit — remove those that disagree w/you.

Will you start up a “get rid of Keith Olbermann” campaign next, numbskull? He lies a hell of a lot more than Jensen supposedly does.

Better yet, if you followed your own standards, you’d begin by excising this very blog itself from the internet!

  6. jason330 says:

So Hube, that is a “no” then? You don’t want to help getting this serial liar off the air?

Okay. Let me know if you change your mind.

Jason, now finally something we can agree on! Rick Jenson off the air. We had people who were taping his shows at the beginning of the war, his lies and distortions were making people go crazy!

Thats when I began calling that “repuke loving station”, he demonized me, he called me names and refused to accept any facts over his Rush talking points. I remember when Fulcher first went on the air, he told me that Rick had the “republican talking points emailed to him everyday and tried to force them on Gerry”. Gerry told him I do my own research. Some of you may remember Gerry calling him a liar on the air.

Good luck trying to get the management to do something about it….if you do they will “turn the show into a talk show”, ONLY THEM talking!
Thats what they told me when I complained about him.

We had a Fairness in Media meeting back in 2002 or 03 to do something about it. We called the FCC and were told that “talk shows are for entertainment”, you have the right to call in and refute what they say. Thats when you could call twice a week. Pressuring them to “reign Jenson in, only caused them cut the calls to once a week.

Jenson speaks for the immediate management who are supporting of Del. State Chamber of Commerce and other republican hawk groups.

Jenson is the biggest distorter and mis/disinformation talking head on the local stations.

If Obama is a socialist, then Jenson is the biggest fascist around. Someone needs to tape those shows or have a Jenson watch on this blog. We need to email the hell out of his bosses, and as I have said before, “no democrat should go on his weasel show”, and if you do radio commercials, state in your contract, “they are not to be run during the Jenson show”.

Sponsors ,good luck with that. Its the management that must be targeted. I had the name of the owners of the stations who live in PA, I will bet they are totally unaware of the lack of listeners to Jenson. A letter writing campaign to the owners might be worth a shot.

I was totally disgusted as he interviewed the dems for congress. He purposely brings up health care and goes on his right wing rant against universal or single payer health care which he has done for years. As Dr. Floyd McDowell stated this AM, I should have sued him over the disinformation and demonization he did of Dr.McDowell and his peer reviewed, nationally approved health care plan for Delaware.

Keep in mind that Jenson is speaking for the Delaware Chamber of Commerce who sell the worst insurance coverage in the State. As I said, the bosses like it when Jenson bullies his guests in favor of an issue the State Chamber hates or has taken the opposite position on.

  8. liz allen says:

There is another media watch dog group: Media Transparency. They send out news where the facts don’t match their lies.

  9. jason330 says:

Even with the COM connection I think if his sponsors start getting a bunch of letters that say, “Did you know that your product is being associated with this recent lies from Rick Jensen.”

The giving the time of the Ad and the time of the lie, and if it doesn’t do anyhting, at least I’ll feel better.

  10. mike w. says:

“Typical “progressive” horseshit — remove those that disagree w/you”

Yup, typical liberal crap. I’ll defend even the most blatantly despicable speech, but “progressives” (at least here at DE Liberal) don’t seem very tolerant of speech they disagree with.

  11. Al Mascitti says:

“Jenson speaks for the immediate management who are supporting of Del. State Chamber of Commerce and other republican hawk groups.”

As long as we’re challenging lies, this one stands out as particularly egregious, because every part of the sentence is a lie. He doesn’t speak for “immediate management,” whatever that is. Management isn’t “supporting of Del. State Chamber of Commerce” in any way I can tell, though it’s pretty hard since the phrase is nearly meaningless. And the DCC is not a “hawk” group, unless you can show that it took a position on any war.

In short, you’re one to talk about someone lying. And, as I’ve pointed out over and over again, you’re a bully.

Oh, and let me agree with Hube and Mike W.: Typical liberal response.

  12. Rick Jensen says:

Good idea. Try to get someone fired from a local radio station because you don’t agree with him or her. Then what? Then you get another syndicated, out-of-town talk host with whom disagreement and discourse isn’t available because you can’t get on the air with him or her? Jason, you’ve been on the air with me many times, as a caller and as a guest I’ve invited.

    You’re invited again, Jason.

  13. jason330 says:

Barack Obama supports infanticide. Barack Obama is a socialist. (and your favorite) Barack Obama thinks there are 57 states. That is just a 5 minute sample.

Put aside the fact that you are a partisan Republican for a second, doesn’t common decency come into play at some point? As a local host, don’t you feel a slightly higher level of responsibility to your audience?

I think another another syndicated, out-of-town talk host would be a step up, because at least the audience would know that they are hearing a paid shill.

Your show is bad for this state. If there was a sewage plant pouring raw sewage into Brandywine – I would want it shut down.

  14. Rick Jensen says:

Jason, you’re invited to explain to Delaware why I’m wrong. What day and time are good for you?

  16. Rick Jensen says:

    Jason,

I look forward to seeing you. Stop by the station, 2727 Shipley Rd around 1:15 and I’ll come to the front office during the 1:30 news. We’ll walk (quickly) to the studio from there. I may have a CBS reporter on from Denver at 1:33, so we can go on together after that. From what I gather on the blog, these are the three statements from the show with which you most recently disagree:

Barack Obama supports infanticide. Barack Obama is a socialist. (and your favorite) Barack Obama thinks there are 57 states.

  17. R Smitty says:

Put it on 5-second delay! No, 20 seconds!

Damn it all, I need to get paid for this shit.

    30 seconds!
