The RNC has decided to scale back its convention next week, they say to make it a call to service rather than a political celebration. That is likely a good thing — americablog already notes that CNN has started the split screen competition and major portions of their program have decided not to come (Bush, Cheney, Schwarzenegger, Crist and others, not including all of those threatened repubs who found something else to do.
So the first day is largely canceled. They’ll do whatever housekeeping they need to do, and that, I predict, includes rewriting their history with Katrina. The Jed Report speculates on how different the Katrina outcome may have been if that hurricane had happened in an election year.
