Cindy McCain Clueless and a former Dopehead to boot

Filed in National by on September 7, 2008

Ok, so we all know Cindy McCain is a recovering drug addict But have you seen this cute little piece where apparently on top of HER and John coming to the decision to choose Sarah Palin she has no idea about what her stance is supposed to be on abortion. Watch the video on the CBS web page. Priceless.

Couric: Where do you stand on abortion?

McCain: I’m pro-life. I’m on the record as being pro-life, like my husband.

Couric: So do you oppose it even in cases of rape and incest?

McCain: No.

Couric: So that’s where you two differ in terms of your position on that.

McCain: Uh-huh

Couric: And do you believe Roe V. Wade should be overturned?

McCain: No. no.

Couric: No. Why not? Your husband does.

McCain: No. I don’t think he does.

Couric: He believes it should be overturned. That’s what he told me, and that it should go to the states.

McCain: Well, in that respect. Yes, yeah, I do. I understand what you’re saying now. It’s a states issue.

Couric: So, you believe it should be overturned or shouldn’t be overturned.

McCain: I believe it’s a states issue. That I do believe.

Couric: How do you feel about creationism? Do you think it should be taught in schools?

McCain: I think both sides should be taught in schools. I think the more children have a frame of reference and an opportunity to read and know and make better decisions and judgments when they are adults. So, I think you know I don’t have any problem with education of any kind.

Who is this Couric? Have I seen her before? Wasn’t she one of Obama’s groupies on the European Summer ’08 tour?

Dude, I see a bit of a baby bump. I think someone got lucky in Berlin!!!!!

    Let’s hope it’s not a retard…..

I don’t think Cindy McCain is a big asset to McCain’s campaign. Her speech at the convention came off as pretty phony, and her $300,000 outfit was a bit much.

    Yosemite, that’s pretty offensive.

You know I can almost deal with the anti-abortion argument. Even “pro-choice” advocates like me are not really pro-abortion (at least the vast majority are not.). The creationism thing just sticks in my crawl though. Why not teach astrology in schools, alechemy, palm reading, voodoo, and so on. It’s not real. Here’s a great educational idea – let’s teach kids there is a valid alternative to evolution by natural selection. I mean it’s only the central premise to modern biology. Funny how these “creationists” have no issue taking prescription medicine or have surgeons perform life saving procedures.

    DG,

I’m a scientist and I completely agree. We don’t have a user-driven education system and we shouldn’t. Whether you believe it or not, evolution is the underpinning of modern biology. I don’t want a physician who doesn’t understand modern science. Plus, we are shooting ourselves in the foot on competing in the economy of the future if we’re giving kids a poor education. We’re already importing a significant amount of our scientific talent from overseas.

My thought about teaching ID/creationism in science class is that it could be used as an example of the scientific method. The scientific method teaches that a hypothesis must be testable and a theory must be predictive. ID is neither, so it is not science. Somehow, I don’t think this is what the “teach the controversy” folks have in mind.

When we burn your post blaspheming creationism, we will then be right! Our creationist scientists are at work now (except when they’re praying) to figure out how to burn blogs just like books that offend us. It might be easier just to blind everyone though. We’re working on it (when we’re not praying).
