MARKELL WINS!

JACK WINS!

Your Next Governor
And Congratulations to Karen Weldin Stewart and Karen Hartley Nagle on their victories tonight.
I am now going to listen to Jack’s speech, and drink up. Continue the conversation on the Liveblog and enjoy Liberal Geek’s videos the rest of the evening.

Hooray Jack!
I’m very disappointed in my neighbors. Baker over Bennet? They voted Atkins in for Christ sake. Are these people stupid? Congrats to the next Governor of the First State, Jack Markell.
Unbelievable. I have to tip my hat to Jack for defeating the machine. A real sea change in Delaware politics.
That’s what he looks like?!?!
What have we done???
j/k but, you coudn’t find a better pic of Jack? 😉
Unbelievable. I have to tip my hat to Jack for defeating the machine. A real sea change in Delaware politics.
worth the blog that it came from….
YAY! Jack!
hmmm, looks like change won.
DV…that was sincere. I know you’ve had a hard time with the FSP Handbook of Snark that I gave you when you changed jobs. If you need to call for support, that’s cool. I’m here to help.
Pay attention! This is what a grassroots campaign can do!
insert snoop dog
I miss him, too, DV. We have memories.
here how about I trash you for a few weeks then when you win “Most Bald Beauty” congratulate you.
here is a big WHATEVER for you.
Somehow the Hollywood, stoic, “congratulations” Burris is trying to pass off over here comes up short.
hmm change defeated experience…where have I heard this before…
No, you can’t change what was….your old manager still to this day is covering his ass over that job posting. They are so lost.
really? what I miss? what do you know? huh!
I couldn’t be happier Jack one….
I wonder if when he wins the governor spot in a “run off” they will call it a “Jack off”
I see signs coming!
I suppose you missed Jason’s call on WDEL today, huh? Someone disrupted his call, yelling for “vote for Donviti!!!”
DTB – that was a good one!
no way really?
thanks mike…but you can still go fuck yourself dickhead.
Is Carper crying someplace?
your jokes are rarely funny but occasionally you succeed. I’ll applaud a good joke, even from an asshole like you 🙂
Great job Jack and all his workers and supporters!!!! Cograts to Karen Weldin Stewart also. Not such a good day for the State Party Leader, they put a lot of support behind Carney and Reed. They LOST. Guess good ol’ Ruthy peps ain’t got the power anymore.
Goal: run an organization into the ground

I will no longer give support of ANY kind to the party it will be all to candidates! The money should have been spent to defeat the GOP and not a fellow Dem.
Markell was the only candidate i voted for that won today (losers Reed, Northington, and Lynn). Oh well, this is the one that mattered the most.
no way really?
Yeah, it was actually me. Gave you props, baldy. Jason disclosed where he was and I was about a 1/2-mile away, so I gunned it there and went right up next to him and gave it a shout.
Off the phone, he was likely right: “We and about two other people just got that joke.” To which I replied, “Yeah, but those will be the only four (including him and me) that matter.”
How many republicans switched party registration before the Deadline and before Lee announced (Lee announced after the Deadline to switch) just to have a chance to vote in what was then the real election for Governor and how much influence did this have on the democratic primary?
Other big winner: the Jack Pack… the next movers and shakers in Delaware government for years to come.
El Somnambulo thinks that the vote-switching made a big difference, probably the decisive one.
But, let’s be honest, if the Party hadn’t strongarmed the Carney endorsement and then propped him up, he would’ve lost by at least 10 points.
VICTORY IS SO SWEET. CONGRATS TO JACK!
Good news. Congrats Jack!
A real plan beat empty words.
A note of congratulations:
It has been a spirited, fascinating and exciting primary season. The democratic process is clearly alive, healthy and energized in Delaware, something we can all be proud of.
Every election has winners and, well…not winners. Those who do not win normally outnumber theose who enjoy the sweeness of victory.
It takes an unusual level of courage to run to for public office. Once you throw your hat into the ring, you will face every sort of indiginty and assault on your reputation. It is the sort of courage the vast majority of citizens never aspire to. To those who do, whether winners or otherwise, THANK YOU.
Now, as Democrats, it’s time to get behind our candidates:
Karen Hartley-Nagle, who I spoke with very briefly today (although she has no idea that occured) you have a daunting but winnable task ahead of you. Mike Castle can be beaten in Delaware –but you have to move quickly and decisively. Raise money, commission polling and find out what likely Delaware voters like and, most importantly, DON’T like about Castle. Then use that information to unseat him. Being coy won’t work, you need to be bold.
Jack Markell, you showed that the establishment is, as it should be, always vulnerable. But that also means the status quo and conventional wisdom are also vulnerable. There are many candidates who lost because they were so certain of their victory that they were busy picking out curtains to decorate their new office, while their opponent was still working the crowds, that they managed to snatch defeat from victory. (Damn, I even impressed myself with that one.) In other words, there is no absolute guarantee that you will win in November –you must work for that yourself.
Don’t give up, keep working because we Democrats need more governors more than nearly anything else. Governors have more sway and influence over their states than any other politician; just look at how many former governors become presidents –even retarded ones.
Karen Weldin-Stewart, well done –as Dumboldore would say (the REAL one, not that other guy). Well done –Gene was a true opponent and worthy. Tom was…well…er…interesting.
You have, perhaps, the most daunting challenge –and yours in not political, it is about leading; that means it’s not fun, it’s real.
You have the true opportunity to help people at the most basic level. You have the chance, the challenge, to battle at a local level for your fellows. Embrace that.
There were a lot of extraordinary candidates in this election. Take a moment to think about the courage of those who lost: Jerry Northington, Mike Miller, John Carney –and the many others.
Now, take the next days and weeks to battle for victory for those how have won today.
Congratulations to the Del GOP. My sincerest wish is they never have to deal with Pornstache again. I wouldn’t vote Lee dog catcher but this morning I’m happy for their kool aid punch bowl.
What I am unhappy about is the Delaware Democratic Party. Screw Daneillo to a post. The Dem voters aren’t so swift either. Markell should have drew 10 points over Minner’s little buddy. F Ruth Ann. Big WTF to New Castle. Paul Clark? Really? Developers get another 4 years of blank passes; dumbasses abound according to the wide margin. Then again, no one is prouder to be collective dumbasses then the one tooth having, cousin marrying, chicken farm stinking, no diploma carrying douchebags of District 41, Sussex County. You hicks are exactly what is wrong with our political system. Thank you for ruining my day.
