The bad news for KHN–the vote total in her race was nearly 9,000 below that for governor, which seems to mean that about 9k Democratic voters didn’t even bother to vote for a Mike Castle opponent.
The interesting question for people who want to unseat Castle: will Jack Markell follow the Delaware Way and ignore the Congressional race while he coasts to victory over Bill Lee, or will he actually stick his neck out and campaign hard to provide some coat tails to KHN.
Got to be honest: I’m thinking Delaware way on this one.
Will Jack Markell ignore the Congressional race while he coasts to victory over Bill Lee?
Yes. And I’m good with that.
Markell might beat Lee easily, but there is no need for him to complicate the election by trying to fight on two fronts.
Let Carper work for KNH. He is not running this time.
I am too. Not because he wants Castle in there like Tom Carper does, but he wants to take him out with a great candidate.
Karen Hartley Nagle may be many things (including a winner in last night’s primaries), but I don’t think she is the person to beat Castle. None of the candidates in this year’s primary were.
Carper working for KHN=sun rising in south.
But I take your point.
Let’s not forget Matt Denn. With the DelDems treasury empty (thanks, Daniello you hack), how will the Democratic Party hold the Lt. Gov spot with Copeland and his DuPont inheritance?
Jack will need to use his influence on the Lieutenant Governor’s race.
Jack will also need a better legislature, which means working to get folks like Becky Walker, Mike Katz, John Mackenzie, John Kowalko, Mike Barbieri, and Rebecca Young elected. Perhaps also Bethany Hall-Long, Harold Stafford, Bryon Short, etc. There are no shortage of Democrats running in November.
Damn…Al Mascitti’s on a roll!
He is. He must have read DL this morning. 😉
Wow. He sure is!
And I’d rather see Jack campaigning on behalf of better Democrats trying to get to Leg Hall — keep sending the message to Ruth Ann that a more progressive Democrat is where we are at.
I think it’s interesting that Minner-lite got more votes than Lee-Protack combined.
MJ, that was due to the huge unbalance in the voter turnout.
27% Dems
16% Republicans
Hell, even the republicans don’t want their people in office!
Joe – I think Dems are more enthusiastic about their candidates right now. Also, I think many republicans just don’t bother because they figure a Dem will win in the general anyway.
That’s a sad self-fulfilling prophecy.
I agree Joe.
