Protack Drops Out

Filed in National by on September 11, 2008

Apparently Mike Protack has dropped out of the race.  He gave an opening and closing statement at the Candidate Forum tonight, then dropped.  Down With Absolutes got the scoop.

Looks like we won’t have pornstache to kick around any more (for two years).

Why? Protack was the most entertaining candidate! Perhaps the powers that be in the Republican party promised him something if he dropped out, since they are probably worried about Protack taking votes from Lee. So that secret third party meeting to nominate him went to waste?

  2. delawaredem says:

    Serves the IPOD right. LOL.

  3. Art Downs says:

Protack has been on the right side of a lot of issues and has done the right thing.

Some of his crititicism of party officials had merit and needed to be said.

There are rare time when the political equivalent of a ‘mulligan’ is appropriate, as with Liberman. Quite often, playing ‘dog in the manger’ merely prolongs a status quo.

  4. liz allen says:

Best news today! To the IPOD board, we could have had a great convention with Ralph Nader as our guest speaker. We could have kept our open government, non-partisan legislation front and center in this election, and brought new candidates to the party based on those good government positions.

IPOD Board now has the opportunity to redeem itself and get back to the reasons the Party was formed. It is time to move beyond Mike Protack and the divisive tactics employed to keep his name on the ticket.

Its time to do the right thing by our members. Engage them, encourage them and end the Boards rule over them. There is no party without an active membership, the ball is back in your court.

  5. Paul says:

    Liz,
Maybe you could pressure the BOD to promise to accept member input, and have open meetings for such a purpose. This can be through a resolution today.
And ASAP, call for a convention, for the purpose of changing the ByLaws to codify that the membership, should endorse candidates, through a voting process.

  6. liz allen says:

Paul they have to agree to change the bylaws!I wonder if Protack had the courtesy of contacting them before he dropped them.?

Protack’s involvement absolutely kept many good government candidates willing to serve in some of the lower level offices, where there was no challenger, to serve. Protack at the top of the ticket was a hinderance.

All the time, energy and spirit involved for months of dealing with Protack could have been better served by the Party in a host of areas.

We obviously need new leadership, and Wolf needs to call a convention/annual meeting to elect new officers, new bylaws committee etc. If Wolfe refuses to do what must be done, if he continues to serve as an appointed only State Chair, the members have the right to leave the party and join a party that better serves their needs and provides the ultimate, the consitutional right to vote.

  7. crazy! says:

Maybe they offered him Biden’s Senate seat when Bill Lee wins the election?

  8. mike hunt says:

Liz Allen needs to ask questions before she opens her pie hole…..perhaps if she knew the truth about the IPOD and how f*** up they really are, she would know that one of Protack’s frustrations could have been Wolf’s inability to get his secret decoder ring working and his inability to organize. He is too busy writing irrevelent position papers to worry about organizing meetings. But I forgot, Liz knows everything. What a….oh well, you know what she is.

  9. Mike Protack says:

Good evening. My best wishes to Liz but she needs to read Judge Chandler’s decision in detail.

In the end, a fusion candidacy of Independent and Republican nominations would stand a great chance of winning, standing alone did not.

My decision to leave the race was made without preconditions or inside deals just as the decision to get in the race was not made on those premises.

Thanks to those who helped and a special Thanks to Jason O’Neill and campaign manager Steve Grossman.

  10. liz allen says:

As usual Protack has an excuse for everything. My attorney David Finger read the Chancellors decision. That decision didnt begin to address the flawed Bylaws of the IPOD, which you used to get around the entire membership.

You lost the primary badly and suddenly you realized that being on the ballot in November against a member of YOUR party wouldn’t benefit you in the future.

You destroyed a small party with weak unelected leaders to do your dirty work. Your revenge against your own party who turned their backs on you again and again, wouldnt permit you to just end the game. You had to have a second bite at the apple, and used “fusion” a great democratic tool as a device to work for you.

You are a pathetic human being Mike Protack. Dr. Floyd McDowell the founder of this Party who was going to run for Governor of this party, was excluded because of your divisive, unethical abuse of the Party.

Your entrance into IPOD and its business has prevented a real Convention with Ralph Nader Mr. Public Citizen from coming to Delaware, and violated the consitutional rights of every member.

Please do Delaware a favor Mike and board that 747 and never show your face in Delaware politics again.

  11. liz allen says:

mike hunt sockpuppet…You have no idea what you are talking about. Protack used the Board of 4 for his own advantage.

FYI: the open government, health care, campaign finance reform, Independent Inspector General and other non partisan good government positions were the reasons the party was founded.

Wolf was preoccupied all right with Protack and his minons applying pressure to go against IPOD members for this man. Protack orchestrated this entire debacle.

Not only did I know the inner workings of IPOD, I brought a challenge in the Court of Chancery, so keep thinking you know anything.

  12. Rod Garrison says:

    Liz,

One this Mike Protack is not is a pathetic human being. Criticizing someones policies or tactics is one thing. Personal attacks against anyone is not the right thing to do. I wish people would get that through their friggin head.

  13. Mike Protack says:

    Liz,

Good luck. I hope you can channel your frustrations in to some action which makes a difference to Delaware.

  14. mike w. says:

Rod – Stay on this site for a while. You’ll see that personal attacks are the norm for several contributors/commentors on DL Liberal.

  15. Rod Garrison says:

I come to this site quite often and see the same degenrates all the time. I know Mike Protack quite well. Politics aside, Mike IS a good person and I had to stick up for him.

I have been active in the Republican Party in the past. I am not involved in the top official business, only the grass roots side of things. I know that the “Party Elite” as they are referred to don’t like Mike … for their own reasons. We at the bottom only hear the rumors. I think what he did by dropping out is very commendable … and I hope Tom and everyone else keeps that in mind.

  16. Heywood Jablowme says:

In twelve months a perenial being will descend from the skies to bring us an Orwellian vision of the future under his leadership.
He will then be summarily laughed back to the tarmac.

  17. Andy says:

The only problem with IPOD appears to be IPOD Obviouslythe Membership did not take their responsibility as members seriously when these bylaws were written Its a shame but that is a common problem with most organizations members forgoet that if they want to belong that they have a responsibility to see that the officers are accountable and that the rules are just and fair and that any changes are scrutinized
Blaming Protack is just blowing smoke on the real problems
How does IPOD expect to get anything done when Their own rules allow for such mediocraty in the running of their organization and members feel vindicated by passing the buck for their problems

  18. liz allen says:

Andy: you do not know anything about the Bylaws or how the members were not provided even one opportunity to decide on any matter.

Bylaws were written by Frank Sims years ago, and when I saw a copy of them I and others objected to them, and called for an immediate rewrite to be presented and adopted at a Annual Meeting/Convention. There was no call from the unelected Board to the members, in fact the unelected Board do not believe they have to contact, meet with or hold meetings of their membership.

It wasnt a point that members didnt try to engage that board, The board stated they didn’t need any members to make the decisions on behalf of the Party, they make ALL decisions, which is the reason I filed the lawsuit. The Judge didnt address the Bylaws to get the Board to honor its members and provide them with their consitutional right to a vote on all matters in the Party. At this point the unelected Board believes it won the lawsuit and therefore can continue disenfranchising its members.

  19. mike hunt says:

    hey liz,

you idiot….the unelected Board DID win the Lawsuit!!!!!!

Perhaps Wolf will surface and be available to explain why he and the Board DID NOT want a meeting at a location more appropriate.

Perhaps Wolf will surface and be available to discuss how he and his party are not capible of running a party.

But perhaps, you could explain why you waited until NOW to complain about the by laws whey they were used to support someone you do not agree with. Those same by laws were available for the use of you and your main man, Dr. Floyd McDowell. If he was the founder of this great political institution, why did he not provide a document of by laws. Or were they designed to support your efforts to control the members.

As I have read somewhere before on the blogs….you are so misirible that if you won a million dollars you would bitch cuz you would have to carry it home.

Get a life……get a grip…..and get lost. You are as destructive as you believe Mike Protack is, the only difference, he has offered solutions to the problems facing delawareans and you continue to be one of the problems….

  20. liz says:

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me.

You don’t know me or anything about me except “what you have read on the blogs”.

Mike Hunt, aka Mike Protack!! time to call it a day.

  21. mike hunt says:

you’d be surprised about what I do and do not know, especially about you. the IPOD is a mess, both of us can agree, but fixing it is an easy problem and that is have someone in the membership step up for the good of everyone and lead it. not just bitch and moan at one thing they did. tom savage could be a voice for the party, especially with his health care proposal, however, you, Liz, have made the issue a personal one between Mike and you, and wolf and you and old candidates and you and wolf, NOT ABOUT THE PARTY. so grow up and accept what you have done to mr. McDowell’s efforts. Perhaps if you wanted a different outcome to your waste of time lawsuit, you and your high power lawyer (who also had a personal vendetta) should have questioned the by laws instead of the meeting that was covered by the bylaws…you ain’t as smart as you think.

and by the way, your congressional candidate v. Mike Castle is gonna get whopped…..haha
