What I learned yesterday on 9/11

Filed in National by on September 12, 2008

1. People still didn’t know that President Bush was told “America is under attack” while he was reading
2. War is ok if the guy is bad and has it coming to him
3. It is ok to ignore daily notes you are going to be attacked if you get daily notes telling you, you are going to be attacked
4. It is ok to go after people that sort of act like they are guilty
5. People still don’t know what war crimes are
6. People forget that half of Iraq was under a no fly zone already
7. People still think Saddam had WMD’s
8. People still think that Bush didn’t know there wasn’t WMD’s
9. It’s Clinton fault
10. People have forgotten that our soldiers had no armor for several years.
11. They forget where the real war on terror was/is.
12. People don’t know that the Bush Administration tells them one thing and does another. (see North Korea talks, Libya Talks, Iran Talks)
13. People are pawns and can’t think for themselves. They trust the government.
14. It is ok to suspend your principles of government if your party is in power

  1. anon says:

You forgot the big one, “people think Iraq was responsible for 9/11.” Some of those people are running for vice president.

People think we won in Afghanistan.

  2. A. Bundy says:

…and that Clinton valued foreign oil more than the safety of Americans?

  3. delawaredem says:

Uh, you mean Bush, don’t you?

  4. Sharon says:

    What I learned yesterday:

    1. That partisan liberals will distort the attack on us for their own ends then argue ad nauseam that Republicans are the only ones who do that.

    2. That having a normal reaction to such an attack is considered a weakness in a Republican but would have been defended to the hilt by Democrats.

    3. That my original thought that Democrats don’t deserve my vote was correct.

  5. Sharon says:

BTW, anon, Sarah Palin didn’t say Iraq was responsible for 9/11. You guys need to get out more. Hey! Look at that electoral-vote.com graph now!

  6. anon says:

BTW, anon, Sarah Palin didn’t say Iraq was responsible for 9/11.

    Liar.

  7. DPN says:

MissAO, you’re wrong and so is your link.

  8. anon says:

    Parse away, wingnuts.

  9. Heywood Jablowme says:

That’s right, Shazzy! Common sense is VooDoo! Any original thought is the DEVIL’S work! You stick to the good book and the GOP darling, don’t let them liburals push facts in the face of the truth.

  10. DPN says:

Oh yeah, wingnuts, watch this politicized video from the RNC.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDx80bnFrVs

I tire of Rethugs acting all sanctemonious regarding not politicizing 9/11.

  11. Linoge says:

Look at that electoral-vote.com graph now!

Good catch! So now can we have an “Obama is Toast” post?

  12. Sharon says:

Anon, you are lying about what she said. But, really, as the election draws near and you guys see it slipping away, I’m not really surprised at this.

  13. cassandra m says:

Our troll contingent — again trying to change the subject when the current one doesn’t show up in their Handbook of Easy Answers.

Which one of you was asking for classiness yesterday? And we all see how that works out today.

My daily reminder, gang — do not feed the trolls.

  14. Sharon says:

You won’t ever see the “Obama is toast” post. What you’ll see is complaints that Republicans “stole” the election because aliens came down and destroyed only Obama votes.

  15. gun dummy says:

Sharon is a c@#$t. If McCain can say that word, so can I.

  16. Sharon says:

    Cassandra,

I always ask for classiness when I come here. But that doesn’t really do anything, does it?

You want to complain that Republicans politicized 9/11. That’s a fair accusation, if you think lauding our President’s response is politicizing it. But to act as though that activity is reserved for those with R’s after their names is disingenuous.

I wasn’t changing the subject, but I really tire of the disgraceful arguments that “He kept reading the Goat book!” proves George Bush was unfit to be POTUS.

And you know, I always gave Bill Clinton credit where it was due, regarding security issues. So when I say people need to knock off the B.S. about Republicans and 9/11, I feel pretty good about it.

  17. Sharon says:

Thanks gun dummy. Now I have another endorsement for my blog.

  18. donviti says:

sharon? Did u ever think you tire of it because its true? Nnnnaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh. Then you’d have to admit you are/were wrong.

it is ok to admit he is a terrible president. Almost 75% of the country thiinks it. So why hold out?

  19. G Rex says:

    4. “Speaking truth to power” only counts when it’s done by Democrats; anyone else is a Rovian swift-boating straw man troll.

  20. Linoge says:

My daily reminder, gang — do not feed the trolls.

Which would pretty much require not responding to you, ever, as has been documented previously.

Why would I honestly bother with such baseless and ridiculous content as was shown in the original post to which we are all commenting? I mean, really. The author was using standardized left-wing talking points, only this time he was supposedly using the answers provided to the series of 9/11 posts as “proof”. Yeah, that would work so well, except all of those 9/11 post questions were atrociously phrased, fallacious analogies, and so patently obvious that a brain-dead gerbil on ecstasy could have figured out where they were leading. And when people can tell where the question is leading, their answers are immediately questionable, and no basis for any determination whatsoever. Leading the witness, anyone?

But, hey, if you all want to go around, patting each other on the asses, and proclaiming your mightiness, go right ahead. But when all of you had been ranting and raving about how viewership of Senator Barack Hussein Obama’s speech mattered (and then suddenly got very quiet when Governor Sarah Palin, the Republican VP candidate, did statistically better and Senator McCain outright did better), how can I not take advantage of all of your rantings and ravings about how only the Electoral College, as documented by that stupid little webpage, is the only metric that matters? What will be your next biased source of information, since this one appears to be failing you today?

  21. cassandra m says:

Sharon, classiness and respect are two way streets. You can’t come here and ask for that without being ready to return it.

You want to be here accusing us — here on a fairly partisan blog — of partisanship. But here you are with your own partisanship which you want to present as not only OK, but The Facts. You already know that this isn’t the path to discussion.

But when we point out the clear facts — that George Bush sat for a few minutes reading a kid’s book after he was told America was under attack — you would continue to accuse us of partisanship when these are the current facts as known. This has been reported in credible places everywhere and was certainly the testimony given to (and reported by) the 9/11 Commission (and to all readers who have not read this — you should. It is completely riveting.). But pointing out the facts is somehow not classy by us.

GWB has been proving to be unfit for POTUS damn near every day of his tenure. You are part of the diehard 30% who think otherwise. Fine. But it is sheer insanity for you to come to a declared liberal blog and expect to find your fellow travelers here.

And as long as you think that it smart to be on a partisan blog asking for nonpartisanship then we’ll see how that works out for you.

  22. cassandra m says:

Linoge, I am an Editor of this blog.

That means, by definition, I am not a troll.

But thanks for playing! We do need continued evidence of our resident gits.

  23. Linoge says:

That means, by definition, I am not a troll.

    Hm…

someone who posts controversial and irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

In internet parlance, your last comment would earn a resounding “FAIL”.

Abusing your position of power does not make your comments any less trolling… it just makes them, and you, that much more pitiable.

  24. cassandra m says:

But thanks for playing! We do need continued evidence of our resident gits.

  25. delawaredem says:

Linogue…in case you haven’t noticed, you are the troll.

  26. anon says:

Which would pretty much require not responding to you, ever

I think we’re okay with that, Linoge.

  27. G Rex says:

    5. Upon hearing of the 9/11 attacks, GWB should have run out and jumped in his fighter plane to personally engage the enemy in single combat, like Will Smith in Independence Day.

  28. pandora says:

That seems a little dramatic, G Rex. I would have settled for him just putting the book down and leaving the room – immediately.

  29. cassandra m says:

Except he did jump into his fighter plane to drop his own Weapons of Mass Distraction on us — executing the new Mission Accomplished maneuver on the USS Lincoln in May of 2003.

It wasn’t true, but truth is not exactly what BushCo does.

  30. P.I. says:

On the lighter side (or not)….I attended the candidate forum last night and learned that the candidate for Ins Commisioner, Karen Weldin-Stewert, is a survivior of the 9/11 attack….at least in her mind. It seems she was employed by an insurance company whose home was the 11th floor of the WTC and that she herself had taken the day off to celebrate her birthday.

I’ve heard a lot of KWS stories over the last several years/election cycles, and that was a new one. Which brings to mind one question: Truth or Fiction?

If memory serves me, that would be about the same time she was a nighttime security person for a shoe store.

  31. Linoge says:

Linogue…in case you haven’t noticed, you are the troll.

Aww, it is so cute how you all pull together and keep repeating the same talking points ad nauseum… Oh. Wait a second. That is exactly what you all have been accusing “all Repukes” of doing for the past two days, and especially with the originating post of this thread.

And thus we come full-circle with the hypocrisy life-cycle of liberals. “Do as we say, not as we do!”

  32. cassandra_m says:

There is a topic to this thread and I guess we will continue to have evidence that our resident gits won’t get with that topic.

    But thanks for playing!

  33. pandora says:

Show some compassion, Cassandra… what can they say? Bush should have kept reading? Bush and Co. were right to disregard the memo?

  34. mike w. says:

“Sharon, classiness and respect are two way streets. You can’t come here and ask for that without being ready to return it. ”

Not always. I treat you folks with class and at least a modicum of respect, yet from the moment I 1st commented on this blog I was not treated with class or respect.

  35. Sharon says:

Mike, it’s their site and they get to decide what’s fair and what isn’t on it. If they want to set up strawmen, then complain because we aren’t accepting it, that’s fair.

  36. mike w. says:

True, it is fair, it just makes them look bad is all.

  37. Von Cracker says:

Do you two need a wet nap? 😉

  38. mike w. says:

“4. It is ok to go after people that sort of act like they are guilty”

Sort of guilty? You mean like “violated UN weapons resolutions for a decade and a half” sort of guilty?

“13. People are pawns and can’t think for themselves. They trust the government.”

This is just a hypocritical statement from someone who thinks that government is the solution so long as “the right people” are in charge.

  39. I’m still looking for evidence that she isn’t a liar…

  40. Not Brian says:

Sort of guilty? You mean like “violated UN weapons resolutions for a decade and a half” sort of guilty?

So Mike… when are we going to invade Israel? They have been defying UN resolutions about the occupied territories for decades… When are we going to Rwanda? How about the Congo?

And why are we buddying up with Lybia despite the fact they have yet to compensate Brit and American families who lost loved ones in a government sponsored terrorist attack?

Hmm… genocide victims that don’t have oil get trumped by a war for oil… we hate terrorists , oh, unless they have oil…

Are you capable of having a nuanced discussion or are you all about parroting talking points?

Do you REALLY think that was the right war at the right time for our security interests? If so you are a fool.

  41. Are you capable of having a nuanced discussion or are you all about parroting talking points?

    OHHHH, MR KOTTER, MR. KOTTER

I KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT ONE!?

  42. Linoge says:

I’m still looking for evidence that she isn’t a liar…

    Likewise for your two sweethearts.

  43. delacrat says:

    15. 9/11 did *not* happen on Bush’s watch.

  44. mike w. says:

“Are you capable of having a nuanced discussion or are you all about parroting talking points?”

Brian – That “parroted talking point” you speak of, guess what? It’s one of those pesky things called a FACT.
