What Really Matters to Bush
This is a picture of President Bush yesterday at a briefing on Hurricane Ike. According to the caption of this photo, the map in front of him is of all the oil and gas pipelines affected in the Houston area. At least we know what matters to Bush.
hey, at least when the gas at the pumps hits $5 because of market rationalizations of reduced gulf coast refinery capacity, the voters will be pointing to Bushco and the deregulation of the oil markets, not supply and demand….oh wait…
Either way, this is fuel for Obama/Biden ’08.
And it’s a BAD thing for him to want to know the status of gulf coast refineries when they’re affected by a hurricane? Should he just ignore disruptions in our oil supply?
In a petroleum-based economy that is a very logical thing to be worried about.
I’m willing to bet that if he wasn’t sitting in front of a map with pipelines you’d be taking it as evidence that he is in cahoots with the oil companies to slow recovery and make the price of gas rise.
Reminds me of the scene from Blazing Saddles where the cowboys save the hand cart but leave teh blacks to their own devices….
I’m actually with mike w. on this one – I’m no Bush fan but how can you slam the guy for paying attention to something that is actually quite important? Like, yeah, I know it’s important to get medical aid and food and clean water to those who need it in the hurricane’s aftermath. But it’s also pretty important to get the refineries fixed ASAP…until I find a way to magically teleport myself from place to place the prospect of $5 or more / gallon gas is pretty scary.
Where was the slam? Read the caption – there was no editorial judgement there. It didn’t say Bush’s interest in the energy supply was bad, now did it? Sensitive chaps, aren’t you?
