Where’s Bush?

The stock market plunges, people are losing their jobs and their homes, and our fearless leader is nowhere to be found.  Politico sums it up.

“I will continue to closely monitor the situation in our financial markets and consult with my economic advisers,” President Bush said Thursday in a two-minute address from the Rose Garden.

That’s right, two minutes. Delivered, according to the official White House transcript, from 10:15 a.m. EDT to 10:17 a.m. EDT. Maybe you missed it. Maybe you were at work. Maybe the president doesn’t care.

Maybe that’s the problem.

The Senior Vote and Privatizing Social Security

If there’s any issue guaranteed to make Seniors sit up and take notice it’s Social Security.  How will the McCain camp spin its way out of this one?  Answer:  They can’t.

Troll Warning:  This isn’t a post on the merits of social security.  It’s a post on McCain’s support for privatizing an institution that most seniors rely upon and how it will affect the election.  Got it?

Bob Barr as a Serious Spoiler

There was a time, not too long ago, when Bob Barr could have played spoiler.  He was taking enough GA voters that McCain would lose the state to Obama.  Some of that has turned around since Palin was added to the ticket.

Today, Bob Barr filed suit against Obama and McCain in Texas, accusing them of missing the filing deadline.  This is going to be interesting.  Texas has 34 electoral votes and McCain holds a solid 20 point lead there.
