And you wonder why firearm-assisted crime is as problematic as it is? And how quickly can someone convicted of that robbery get parole and be back out on the street again? As it is now, our justice system is failing to act as a deterrent, failing to act as a control for criminals, and, by and large, simply failing to act.

Because we are too busy locking up drug offenders on mandatory sentences to actually keep real criminals in jail.
Highest incarceration rate in the industrialized world and nothing to show for it (well, unless you have an interest in the private prison industry).
Question. Should you get more time if you rob it with a gun than if you use a bomb or a knife?
Or we could try THIS question: How much jail time should the people who robbed the banks with bad mortgages/debt receive?
