Deal
Apparently bipartisan altho another report I read had some hedging language from a Republican negotiator. Read it and tell us what you think.
And done and announced before the White House meeting.

Simple answer (not about the campaign but about the bill): what we’ve feared is true. Our elected officials have pretty brazenly socialized loss while privatizing gain. We’ll never see this money again (except in our tax bills), and it won’t prevent a recession.
However, the article is right about one thing: today marks the day when the US reign as the financial center of the world officially ended.
Whether that’s good news or bad news I simply don’t know.
Reducing taxes has to be accompanied by tax reductions.
The negotiators are denying McCain credit for the deal, since he’s not even in Washington. I think he’s going to use this as an excuse to vote no on the deal. Democrats are expecting some kind of backstabbing.
From kos 1) Democrats capitulate on bankruptcy protections and this gift to Wall Street at the expense of Main Street is finalized, or 2) Democrats hold firm on the bankruptcy stuff and the whole thing falls apart.
I guess the Dems caved on bankruptcy protections. Typical.
*sigh* Everyone was always going to cave. The really sad thing is that most Americans think that the 700 billion fixed everything.
No fix here. This will do nothing but delay the inevitable…make it someone else’s problem. In four years the Repubs will be pointing there fingers and taking congressional seats.
Hold on to your seats kiddies…its going to be a rough ride.
Now I understand what Bush meant about the “ownership society”. We all own everything, yet have nothing. Welcome, comrade to the Peoples Republik of Amerika!
“Whenever a Great Bipartisan Consensus is announced, and a compliant media assures everyone that the wondrous actions of our wise leaders are being taken for our own good, you can know with absolute certainty that disaster is about to strike.”
Sad but true
Sounds like the deal is in the shitter. Maybe there is hope after all.
Don’t hold your breath, David. The point of today was for McCain to get credit for “the plan”. Oops, he didn’t show up in time!
Unless, you think McCain is going to say “No bailout for Wall St. – let them fail”.
No Deal (so far)

So, no McCain at the debate now?
He hasn’t committed either way.
