Isn’t it odd that the south has been out of gas for a while and it is not a big story?

I was down in Atlanta last week, and it is all over the local news. I had to drive out to Augusta, and on the way back, I had to fill up the rental car prior to returning it to Hertz. I stopped off at 2 exits on I-20, and stopped at six gas stations, all out of gas. So I sucked it up and had Hertz refill it.

Unlike previous shortages, I think so far everyone expects it to be short-term. They blame it on Ike, not on policy mismanagement.

    I blame it on Clinton.

Unfortutantely, in regard to their plight, it’s regional so it doesn’t get the play you’d think it would. Also, and obviously, it loses on the national stage, because there is much more affecting the national stage right now.

I’m with you, though, I’d wish this had more play on the media.

When I was down there, the local news did say the shortage was as a result of all the Louisiana and Texas refineries shutting down for Ike.

It apparently takes a week or so to start back up a refinery, and then it takes another week or so beyond that for production to be flowing back out to the gas stations.

We get our gas from Philadelphia refineries, so it doesn’t affect us.
