First of all, DON’T listen to Rick Jensen. If you happen to be walking by a radio this afternoon though and it is still on and playing because whoever was listening to AL forgot to turn it off, here is what you’ll hear today.
The media is “in the tank” for Obama. The evidence is the Couric interviews with Palin and the fact that Gwen Ifill is moderating the VP debates.
The word has come down from Michelle Malkin to go after Ifill and Jensen is a brainless zombie, so expect much Gwen Ifill (psst…who is African American) bashing. Gwen Ifill is moderator and managing editor of “Washington Week” and senior correspondent for “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer”.
Ifill has always overcompensated by responding to these kinds of right-wing attacks by going easy on the Republicans and giving Democrats an unusually hard time. When she moderated the Cheney/Edwards debate, she went out of her way to ask toss Cheney softballs but opened up a can of “when did you stop beating your wife” type questions on Edwards that any Fox News talking head would be proud of. For example:
“As the vice president mentioned, John Kerry comes from the state of Massachusetts, which has taken as big a step as any state in the union to legalize gay marriage. Yet both you and Senator Kerry say you oppose it.
Are you trying to have it both ways?”
…versus these questions for Cheney.
How will you capture or kill Bin Laden and other terrorist?
Is it really dangerous to our security to vote for Kerry?
Should we lift the Iranian sanctions as you wanted when you ran Halliburton?
What should we do about the poor in America?
Can you explain the difference in the Bush administrations position an on same sex unions in light our your previously stated positions and your family?
You said trial lawyers are and part of the reason for spiraling medical costs right, therefore are you saying John Edwards is part of the problem.
If you remember the last VP debates, you already know that the GOP”s wall to wall Ifill bashing between now and the debates will probably pay big dividends.
On the second point of evidence that the media is biased, Rick thinks it is obvious that CBS and Couric are trying to take down McCain. If they wern’t why would they keep airing Couric’s interview with Palin? And why do they air this those segments without airing the tape of Obama saying there are 57 states?
Case closed.
