    If people find solace in that kind of devotion, more power to them. I just don’t have total confidence in the idea that a Christian God exists, let alone is actively protecting me from getting bit by snakes.

    I am having a good laugh on a Monday morning. You lack “total confidence” in the existence of the “Christian” god. Are you any closer to any type of assurance in the non-existence of the Roman, Norse or Buddhist varieties?

    And for the record the Christian god is the same as the Jewish and Islamic one, for whatever that’s worth. Abrahamic tradition and all.

    To take God’s side for a second – the fact that you can’t have “total confidence” is the whole point.

    Yeah, I know. It just seemed like a funny way to put it. Generally when there is no evidence for proposition X, but X is still techically possible, then describing our position as lacking “total” confidence is funny to me.

    The existence of some god-like thing is remotely possible, that is true. But let’s not pretend the scoreboard indicates a tight game, right.

    It means that I’m an Agnostic, Dorian. I don’t presume to know for certain. Do you know the difference between an Agnostic and an Atheist?
