Jefferson Jackson Preview Thread

Filed in National by on October 13, 2008

According to a draft agenda it is going to go something like…

Welcome/Invitation To Be Seated – Chairman Daniello 7:00pm

Nobody will hear this.

Invocation – Harriet Smith Windsor 7:05pm

With any luck we will not all be told to have faith in the one true God and his son Jesus this year.

Pledge of Allegiance – Harry Gravell 7:10pm

Okay.

Welcoming Remarks – Gov. Minner 7:15pm

My Prediction: Horrible droning delivery of forgetable pap.

Subdivision Awards – Insurance Commissioner Denn 7:35pm

The only upside to Minner is that she will be the perfect opening act for Denn. He took this role two years ago and knocked it out of the park.

Healy Award – Lt. Governor John Carney 7:45pm

Okay.

Remarks- State Treasurer Jack Markell 7:55pm

This should be interesting. With Biden on the agenda, Jack might feel the need to reign it in a bit. I hope not. My motto is: The more Republican bashing the better.

Introduction of Sen. Biden/Presentation of Bayard Award 8:10pm

– Senator Tom Carper

Carper won something? I demand a recount! Okay. I get it. Carper is introducing Biden. The introduction will suck.

Keynote Remarks – Sen. Biden 8:25pm

Biden kills in this kind of set up and he’s been practicing like mad for two months so he will be on fire tonight.

What? The circle jerk isn’t timed anymore? It just proceeds throughout the entire evening?

  2. jason330 says:

    troll bastard!

  3. Will we be sharing a table?!? Can’t wait for this.

  4. cassandra_m says:

Have you bribed us sufficiently to share a table?

  5. MJ says:

Ban the trolls!!!! Or at least muzzle them.

The Weldin-Stewart Hate seems to be a uniform trait over here.
Otherwise, a really great summary, Geek. I much rather have it vicariously than to actually have to be there. yuck.

I am so thankful to Kowalko for escorting Darlene around last night. She is a true champion and as honest a broker as you could ever want to meet. I am horrified to hear what she has been going through. There is no doubt that that falls directly in the lap of Rick Jensen for foisting the RNC talking points about ACORN in incessantly snide commentary for the last week now taking calls from the worst sorts of wall-creeping mutant wingnuts.
I sincerely hope that you follow up on giving Delaware ACORN its due.

DD’s interview of KWS was not hateful enough for my taste.

  8. anon says:

Don’tcha just love these so called liberals attacking democrats? Not hateful enough?OMG!

  9. liberalgeek says:

Oh, I see. I’m less of a liberal because I dislike someone despite being them being a Democrat? Look, my goal is to get more and better Democrats elected. I am starting believe that KWS is not a better Democrat.

The fact that she felt the need to glad hand a room full of Democrats is somewhat telling. The fact that she did it during inappropriate times (like during solemn parts of the program) speaks volumes. The fact that I ran into several people that had nothing good to say about her raises flags for me.

I’ll probably do a post on her later, but I hate bashing Democrats, so it is taking some time for me to get up the gumption.

anon I was humorously pointing to the fact that DD’s interview was not hateful.

LG I feel exactly the same way. It is tough to gin up the energy to bash a Dem when there are so many worthy Republicans to berate.

Stella Bluez emailed me and asked if I could post her comment. No problem!

“It was wonderful to meet you guys last night Cassandra & L.G.!!! I enjoyed my conversation with Mike M., although I got a bit creative with his family tree….SORRY MIKE!!!!

Next event I will search out U.I……it’s fun to put faces & names (even an alias) together…

I have seen Joe Biden speak many times (every chance I get) & I was impressed with how passionate he was last night, he was the loudest I’ve ever heard him!! Of course he has had lots of practice lately & being in a room full of his homies must have been fun for him.

A great night for DE Dems!!!”
