The article basically is a lesson in the very real problems with the revolving door between regulators and those who get regulated. Cisneros was involved with some key deregulation actions that the mortgage and housing industry wanted when he was at HUD. And when he left, Cisneros went right into those same mortgage and housing industries. The anecdotes re: folks with mortgages going belly up are still housing boom (2002-2006) vintage, and with the same subprime players that no longer exist. At the end of the day, Cisneros joined a bunch of organizations that worked hard to profit off of every corner of the housing boom they could and he did nothing to call for an end to any of the excesses.
