Best GOP Spin Ever!
Surfing around the internet tubes this morning I found this great spin:
Republicans are losing because they are not conservative enough!
Granted, this is the view of complete nut cases.
Nevertheless, as patriots who love this country, we need to do everything we can to promote, elevate and enshrine this spin until it has the luster of absolute, God-given fact.

That’s been around for a while. I think digby wrote one of the best ever blog posts a few years back with the theme that “conservatism can’t fail, it can only be failed,” predicting this very argument and how true believers would try to frame Bush as some kind of liberal. This belief that we haven’t been conservative enough is what will keep Republicans out of power for a while, until they renew themselves.
UI is right; this ain’t new: it’s been the Hannity/Limbaugh mantra for years
Here’s that post by digby. It’s called “Political Religion.”

Almost as funny as the idea that the NYT is tanking because they’re just not liberal enough.
Republicans are losing because they are not conservative enough!
Freaking purists. They will constantly cut off parts of their body if they feel it’s casting sin upon their soul. Problem is, the real sin is the ignorance that has already manifested itself within their soul. Cut that one out, bitches!
This belief that we haven’t been conservative enough is what will keep Republicans out of power for a while, until they renew themselves.
Absolutely correct. Until the purity side of Republicans are willing to accept there are other components to their own party and lower their attempts of assimilation, there will be no renewal.
Whichever party loses is in for a major overhaul of the party. In both cases this would be a good thing.
In both cases this would be a good thing.
I’m not sure that is true. Would a return to DLC style leadership on the Democratic side be progress?
Right lg. The renewal of the Democratic party has already happened with the rise of the “Democratic wing of the Democratic party.”
