Sign of the Times
This morning three groggy bloggers dragged their collective ass out of bed and down to Milton for a 2 hour show with Maria Evans. On our way down, we came across the sign of the year. It is the business sign for Hudson Management (Christian Hudson is a contributor at DelawarePolitics). We loved the sign so much that we had to stop to get a picture of Fearless Leader in front of it.
Simply amazing and stunningly stupid. Could someone please explain why a businessman would risk losing customers by politicizing his business?
Jason’s smile makes me laugh.
Could someone please explain why a businessman would risk losing customers by politicizing his business?
It has to do with voting against ones own interests perhaps?
Thanks, karmicjay. I can’t believe how much sense your answer makes! However, did I miss the obvious? 🙂
“Could someone please explain why a businessman would risk losing customers by politicizing his business?”
Christian (Jody) Hudson is a* Realtor*. He’s from relatively old money (compliments from his daddy, Joe Hudson). Essentially, he dabbles in real estate, kind of like a hobby, as does his brother Craig, and his sister Susie. This would also explain his unholy alliance with the asshats from the Positive Growth Alliance, who are attempting to pave over all of eastern Sussex County in the name of progress. Their fair-haired boy, Baker, just got his ass whipped by Deaver for Sussex County Council.
As always, just my opinion. I could be wrong, and frequently am.
No… that actually explains a lot. No one struggling to build a business or feed their family would behave so recklessly.
That picture cracks me up. Nice work fellas!
“Jason Scott gives socialism one red thumb up!”
I said this earlier today…. The Republicans were absolutely fucking idiots by calling Obama a socialist and his plans socialism.
For that means…. Socialism won last night in a landslide.
If y’all would get down here more often, you’d know that’s typical of the Hudson signs. “Socialism” is a favorite word they use to describe anything remotely liberal, from Obama to the mf’d housing measures.
They were not finished; Of Goldman- Sachs, is the rest of the sign.
Observer….
I do get down there often, since my parents live in Dagsboro.
That sign has been up for a while now. I’ve been flipping it off on my commute for a few weeks.
They have been making somewhat extreme political statements on that corner for years. The roof of that barn had an anti-tax message on it years ago.
As a side note, the Hudson family business for many years was called “Land for Sale.”
deldem – I didn’t mean to impugn everyone here, but there sure is an above-the-canal edge to this site that leads to a gee-whiz quality to posts about SoDel. I do wish you guys had a regular contributor from Sussex.
That picture is priceless.
Actually, Pandora lives in SoDel during the summer months. So she is very familiar with it, as I am as a frequent visitor. But your criticism is not without merit. It is true, that Pandora, Cassandra, Donviti, Nemski and I all live above the canal, while Jason and Geek live near Middletown. So I am sure there is a bias towards upper Delaware.
If I may be so bold, I invite you to offer your frequent comments on lower Delaware issues that you feel we may be missing. Please drop us a tip above, or email us directly.
DD, I was just thinking the same thing!
And while I do spend my summers in Fenwick Island I am embarrassingly uninformed on the local scene. What I do know of Fenwick politics I don’t like.
This is an excellent photo! Great work, Jason!
Ya know, if they moved Sussex county closer to New Castle County, it would make the trip easier…
Global warming will take care of that for you.
I would have been more than happy to drive you three groggy bloggers down to Milton, and have all 3 be in the “Gateway” picture for posterity’s sake, penance, and pontificating at a later date in time. You should have called! All I was doing today was laying low, and licking wounds–those really deep ones–all over. Maybe scars. No, definitely scars.
Yeah, I know. Smitty and I dropped by your office today and you were nowhere to be found. Do you actually work there?
Pandora — open mic for you anytime you’re down!
Wow! I’d love to be on your show! Thanks.
Great picture!
Mr. Hudson (I think) is the perpetrator of the Obama doesn’t have a valid birth certificate story over at Delaware Politics, so that probably tells you everything you need to know about his politics and state of mind.
But perhaps I could suggest to Mr. Hudson that he change his sign to say: “Socialism is at the Gates, and it Wasn’t Born in the US Either”.
So it was Smitty and LG? I thought maybe jason. It would have been a privelege. Really sorry I missed you both.Office? You mean that “shell” for the off-shore investment….oh those days are over now. I will be back to work…yup 2 jobs–cause of healthcare–but, I know now I will be able to drop it down to one, with all that is comin’ my way. But the cynic/realist in me, sees me getting a 3rd job, because I’ll keep missing the threshold for the goodies, but will continue to pay for everyone else’s! Resting up now!
The great thing about this picture to me is that I love capitalism – but I really love how freaked out some wingnuts are over this loss.
*yaaawwwwwnnnn* *grunt* *snort*
Is it Election Day yet?
Personally, I’d like to socialize them right off of their high-density perch.
…I love capitalism
Kind of reminds me of the first Austin Powers…
Austin: “I guess we showed those capitalist pigs, eh, comarade?”
Basil: “*ahem* Austin, we won the cold war.”
Austin: “Oh. Yay, capitalism”
By the way, that was complete with the thumbs up, ala Jason.
Hahaha, that was a funny scene.
If you need a downstate contributor, why not invite Jud Bennett? Jud has been mass e-mailing what are essentially blog-posts for years now. He could use his own gig. (I know he had one at FSP, but that didn’t seem to fit or last)
Jud certainly could have stayed, but not sure what happened there. I know the formatting of a post was frustrating. The email blasts seemed to be more liberating.
so southern delaware which is about 50 miles south of Southern delaware needs better representation?
wtf? this state is the size of a Super Walmart Parking lot. that’s like saying you need someone on either side to fairly represent the customers
