Hank Paulson going back to Congress for the rest of the TARP funds after telling them last week he was leaving them for the next administration or the Minnesota recount or whatever will drown out whatever chatter there is about holding a seat for Beau shortly.
There’s not much talk about Biden’s replacement in the national media. They seem to be willing to let the man be a placeholder for Beau Biden. I haven’t seen any mention of Carney or other contenders in the national media coverage.
My minimum expectations are that my Senator should be a reliable Democratic vote. If they want to go on to be an idea man, or a media star or run for higher office, that’s fine, but mostly I need a Senator who will vote for the bills I want, and oppose the ones I don’t want.
Joe gets a B – , on account of the AUMF and the bankruptcy repeal. Whether he has redeemed himself at this point is a judgment call.
I expect Kaufman to be copying from Joe’s homework.
I think Kaufman was a fair choice. The people elected Biden/Kaufman (Biden’s advisor) to the Senate. What better person to represent the will of the voters? Any other guesses at motive are just that. Guesses.
If there is any damage it is minor and cosmetic.

Apparently Biden gaffes aren’t limited to the things he says out loud.
Maybe a black eye to himself, but a sucker punch to Carney. That’s not gonna sit real well w/ you guys. You have keyboards!!

Carper gets an F.
What grade is Beau shooting for?
I guess I don’t think Kaufman is a terrible choice or anything but it seems to be a little too backroom politics to me.
