As the crisis escalates, US politicians are split on whether to inject billions of dollars into the big three.
Michael Castle, a Republican senator, underlined the divide last week when he said: “Is this a down payment or a final number? I’m not sure there is an easy recovery.”
The United Arab Emiratese don’t know the difference between a US Congressman and a Senator. I guess that is forgivable. What is less forgivable is how lame Mike Castle is. Could they find a more wishy washy non-quotable quote from all of Congress?
I doubt it.
And yet, it is impossible for me to get worked up about Castle since he will not be running for the Senate, but will either be dead or retired in two years. My feeling now is let him have his 24 month victory lap. He has earned it by being in public life all these years and never having taken a clear, forthright stand on any issue other than collectable coins and killing Frozen-Embryo-Americans for science.
