Ron Williams Comes Out of The Closet
Not that he was very far in the closet when it came to Tom Gordon, but this is sickening…
Gordon bashers on the prowl
The roving bands of Tom Gordon bashers have once again resurfaced, as uninformed and bigoted as ever.
The occasion that spurred the ignoramuses was the announcement by Insurance Commissioner-elect Karen Weldin Stewart that Gordon is on three of her transition team committees, including one that will review and make recommendations about the department’s fraud unit.
Are you thinking…”get a room” at this point?
I’ll admit that the irony jumps out at you.
The former New Castle County executive and county police chief was once indicted on racketeering charges, that by their own nature include fraud.
But as most of the Gordon bashers either refuse to acknowledge, those charges were dropped by the U.S. attorney.
Sherry Freebery pleaded guilty to an unrelated charge of lying to a bank on a mortgage application, which is a felony.
So let’s recap what Williams knows so far…Gordon was once indicted on racketeering charges so he knows fraud when he see it….?
The intellectually constipated bloggers were beside themselves because Gordon was “getting a high paying job in the fraud unit of the Insurance Department,” even though the transition team — as is the case with virtually every transition team — is an honorary, bipartisan, unpaid position.
Wha…? I guess making up quotes and not attributing them to anyone is a new Gannett cost cutting measure.
As a long-time police chief, who was honored nationally for his service, Gordon’s certainly qualified to review the operation of an internal fraud unit of an independent state agency.
Slurp..slurp…slurp…
As Weldin Stewart’s chief aide, Elliott Jacobson, said of Gordon, “He made a mistake in the past, it was a misdemeanor. There comes a point when you just have to let go.”
But try telling that American judicial logic to nitwits.
Uhm…yeah…because A) Jacobson is an impartial observaer in all this, so him getting the last word makes sense and B) the rules of the man crush are that anyone who points out that Tom Gordon should not be allowed within 100 feet of the public’s money must be a nit wit.
So here is the thing. KWS and Tom Gordon are now in positions of relative power and have the ability to get revenge and go after people that they don’t like.
That makes me worried.
The News Journal got rid of at least 12 people yesterday who bring more to the table than Ron Williams ever could — except perhaps in the whiskey-drinking department.
Doesn’t journalism have, like, RULES for when you put quotes around something?
Booh-yah!

Don’t forget Chris Roberts and Stephanie Hansen. Their long memories are only matched by their longer knives.
is bashing a criminal really that abhorent?
DV –
The fact that he pled guilty speaks to Gordon’s sterling character.
In Williams-world, a real criminal would have made showy claims of innocence.
You want a great example of why DV can’t stand the thought of being nicey-nice simply to placate and attract politicians? I give you exhibit A: Ron Williams and his pornographic fantasies with TG and KWS.
I think when Ronny spoke of intellectual constipation, he meant himself. He can’t fathom any hint of separation between him and his pal Tommy (and friends).
Don’t forget Chris Roberts and Stephanie Hansen. Their long memories are only matched by their longer knives.
No kidding. I get to go through this exercise on a regular basis.
Speaking of which, did you catch the bottom of Williams’ love column? Chris Roberts is attempting to get back in with the county…all the while Hansen is on KWS’ team.
On a final note, why aren’t the ususal anti-“Delaware Way” (not the blog, but the cronyism) people pitching fits over this “team?”
Just a thought, it seems like KWS’s transition team was magnetic for all of the Democratic Party’s misfits, rejects, and losers.
Are they setting her up for failure, or are they positioning people to blame her failure on?
“Are they setting her up for failure?”
Face it. It’s inevitable.
Tom Gordon has to be loving this.
The more peopel learn about this KWS fuck-up, them more she and Elliott Jacobson will have to defend it – while he just kicks back with his arms crossed and his feet up on a desk.
Ron Williams reads our blog and apparently doesn’t like being criticized. Man, i love it!
Poor Ron Williams.
Washington DC’s own Marion Barry had his media defenders too. And those defenders had a hand is helping Barry back into office and into a place where he continues to be an embarrassment to the people of DC.
Williams should be ashamed of just enabling the Delaware Way.

He should be ashamed of a heckuva lot more than that.
Oh good — I just read the whole thing. So not only can Williams not even name who it is he was reading, he has to cherry pick a quote from a commenter to make this bit of idiocy hang together.
Wouldn’t be surprised of Nancy Willing wrote this for Ron — except this doesn’t have anywhere near the right proportions of made up crap (not attributed to anyone, naturally) to sheer conspiracy theory.
Note to NJ — You’ll never get a better chance to rethink your editorial page.
The Insurance Commissioner and her office are a bunch of frauds. The Delaware Dems never take out their own, not even ones as pathetic as Stewart or Gordon. The state finds places for losers like Meconi and when stuff goes wrong, they ignore it and keep the AG out of it. Such is Delaware. As for the NJ, they’re done. Newspaper earning down 30% last quarter. It’s just a matter of time. But obviously Willimas has a thing for Stewart and coerced the editorial board to strongly endorse her when the facts clearly indicated otherwise. It should be fun watching the dems in the Senate and the Insurancce Commisioners office undermine the state. Let the party begin.
Tom Gordon should not be allowed within 100 feet of the public’s money must be a nit wit.

nits to wits….he is not anywhere near money. He is on a trans team.
anonie…KWS undermine the state? WTF?
Gee Cass, feeling a little dissed this morning?
Getting called out as a dip shit on the OP-ED pages has got to feel so nice.
FYI, what I say is corraborated by people even you would assume are impartial. Keep calling me a liar and I may consider opening some of your closet doors, dearie.
Jason, how does Gordon ‘have power’. He is advising on a few areas of the office-holder’s future responsibilites. Advice. Free advice at that.
So hard to get the picture?

heh, I love it. I wonder if Elliot had anything to do with Gravel’s whacky rock-heaving, long-staring youtube.
I love Gravel.
Keep calling me a liar and I may consider opening some of your closet doors, dearie.
Make.My.Day
You and Liz Allen with the snide threats and conspiracies — neither of you can manage enough reality to even recognize that you don’t know who I am and you certainly don’t know people around me.
All of this corroboration of your conspiracy theories exists in your head.
But hey! It is almost Christmas. Just Bring It.
Nancy –
For someone who laments the “Delaware Way” you seem to have suddenly devloped a pretty big blind spot.
Good to know you are as consitent as you are reasonable.
Nancy doesn’t so much as have a problem with the Delaware Way as she does with the Delaware Way that does not include her.
Which is, apparently, quite abit of it.
So, let me get this straight. The people who are concerned about someone who was indicted for a crime involving misusing his office (and who pled to a lesser charge) are the crazy ones.
Yes, and that concern is apparently now referred to as “intellectual constipation.”
Look Ron, I can quote without citing, too! Oh damn, I just gave you credit.
Make.My.Day
wooohooooooo
Guilty is the meme, UI?
Prove it? Who needs it? Proof? Just an old school kick-in -the-darned-patoot.
Innocent until the Dellies want to sully someone.
~~~~
Cass, you cut to the quick…ohhhhh. So mean. tsk tsk.
To whoever taught the willing the word meme … I hate you.
Maybe best understood by cutting in half…me me.
Ah! Then you were making it up then, Nancy. Which still makes you a liar.
No Let me get this straight, Gordon is subjected to a baseless and malcious political prosecution. He is maligned publically by a Bush appointed US Attorney, who unlike Patrick Fitzergerald, attempts to try his case in the press, and does his best to destroy Gordon for years. This same Bush appointed US Attorney who spent 2 years conducting a leak filled investigation, and then indicts Gordon in May of 2004 on 8 felony charges. After spending another 3 years trying his case in the press, where he is not required to provide any evidence to support a single allegation he makes, drops every sigle felony charge he brought against Gordon on the eve of trial. Despite this Bush appointed US Attorney having a reputation for being a pit bull and refusing to make reasonable plea bargain offers, after trying his case in the media for over 6 years (despite having no actual evidence of criminal conduct) when it comes time to actually publically present his allegations with a pesky little thing called evidence, this Bush appointed US Attorney drops all 8 felony charges against Gordon in exchange for Gordon pleading guilty to two unrelated misdemeanors charges (not lessser included charges as you claim, but two book keeping tax charges that aren’t only not lesser included charges, but unrelated to any charge brought, and never alleged to have actually occured ) . In light of all that has been exposed by the Bush Justice Dept, despite the reputation this Bush appointed US Attorney has for doggedly pursuing criminal cases, and his 6 year pursuit of the case against Gordon, we are expected to believe that Gordon was really guilty, and Connolly let him off! Get real! Get over your hatred of Gordon, and evaluate the actual facts, and ask your self this question, does it make sense that Colm Connolly (remember the Court didn’t dismiss or throw out the case, and no ruling prohibited the fed’s ability to introduce evidence, as Connolly has attempted to promote- contary to the actual court file, to minimize the harm he did to his own reputation) would dismiss a case against Gordon after 6 years if he could have obtained one conviction? Of course not. Then ask yourself, if the prosecution against Gordon was without merit, and if Gordon was a victim of the Bush/Rove bastardization of the Justice Dept. then should I ignore this injustice, and political prosecution, because I don’t like Gordon? If your answer to the last question is yes, that a political prosecution of Gordon is ok, because you don’t like Gordon, then you don’t really value the justice system, and are no better than the nuts on the far right!
