I hope your picks get better. There are some good x-mas song out there you know.

  2. Lee Brill says:

Jason is right. Here is Robert Earl Keene’s “Merry Christmas from the Family” Christmas Texas style!

Lee, damn it, that’s tonight’s video. Son of a ….

  4. Joanne Christian says:

Thanks. All the more grateful for my “Waltons’ Christmas”, as we await Mary Ellen coming home, and miss John Boy who can’t be with us this year.

  5. Lee Brill says:

Here’s a slightly more tasteful, but no less funny Holiday song. “The Christians and the Pagans” by Dar Williams.

  6. nemski says:

Lee, I forgot all about Dar William’s great song. A fantastic fit for Delaware Liberal, though DV and Jason won’t like it. 😉

  7. Lee Brill says:

My last two jaundiced Holiday recommendations are:

The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl – Fairytale of New York

    and:

The Chieftains – St. Stephen’s Day Murders
written and sung by Elvis Costello

and people wonder why they get depressed at the holidays!

May I weigh in with one of my favorites. Actually, anything from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra is fun!

    Oops… here’s the longer version! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDbNcNfunbU&feature=related

though DV and Jason won’t like it.

And how will prople know that this is Delaware liberal if we are not pissing each other off? Go for it, dude.

And Lee Brill is bringing the music here — we should audition him for the Delaware Liberal DJ.

  10. Lee Brill says:

I don’t mean to piss anyone off but I once saw a contest where first prize was a ticket to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert.
    Second prize was two tickets.

  11. pandora says:

    Consider me pissed! 😉

Can’t help it. I love Christmas music, and when you listen to as much of it as I do… it’s nice when someone shakes up the classics.

  12. Joanne Christian says:

I’m with you Pandora-and hope we win 2nd prize.

  13. JohnnyX says:

Excellent work with The Pogues, Lee, I’ve always been a fan of that one.

Another fav of mine has always been The Waitresses “Christmas Wrapping”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acrM-KoMHiI

(Youtube video is not the official video BTW, but the quality of the song itself is great)

  14. pandora says:

Ha, Johnny! The Waitresses are what’s playing at my house right now. Also love… All I want for Christmas is you.

Wait… as I type this we just moved into Christmas with the Rat Pack CD!

Go ahead, mock me. Joanne and I know the true spirit of Christmas Music! Sappy and sentimental is okay this time of year… like Judy Garland singing “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” or Lena Horne performing “Let it Snow” and absolutely anything by Nat King Cole!

  15. Joanne Christian says:

And a full CD of Perry Como!

  16. Miscreant says:

    “Merry Christmas from the Family”

My favorite Christmas song. It’s like a description of my own family’s Christmas.
