Some Lazy Radical Right Blogging
Sharon, over at Common Sense Political Thought, asks whether Democrats are being hypocritical since we did not criticize Sen. Feinstein about an interview she did with The New York Times? In the interview regarding torture, Feinstein said the following, “I think that you have to use the noncoercive standard to the greatest extent possible.” Yes, that’s not what I would agree to. Torture is torture is torture. You happy now Sharon?
Now, let’s get to the lazy Radical Right Blogging part of this post. Sharon points to a post from Brothers Judd as being her inspiration. Part one of the lazy part is the Sharon quotes the same exact passages as Brothers Judd did — paragraph for paragraph, word for word. Part two of the lazy part is that Sharon did not even read the freaking article, because if she did, she would have read the following paragraph:
Afterward, however, Mrs. Feinstein issued a statement saying: “The law must reflect a single clear standard across the government, and right now, the best choice appears to be the Army Field Manual. I recognize that there are other views, and I am willing to work with the new administration to consider them.”
I’ve always knew that Radical Right bloggers lie, I just didn’t know they were lazy about it.

LOL Cassandra. I just read the Radical Right blogs of Delaware for sport. It’s like watching Pop Warner football — you know what they’re trying to do, but you got to laugh at how they do it.
Not reading the entire article is not only lazy, it’s stupid. Next thing you know some other – dare I say, more diligent – blogger will call out your oversight and make you look like a fool. A blogger’s specialty, to be sure!

Speaking of lazy, you don’t bother reading much, do you. The argument isn’t that you aren’t criticizing Feinstein for the interview. It’s that you guys don’t seem to mind at all that Dems don’t seem to be too upset about torture now that Barack Obama will be in charge of it. The problem, you see, is the hypocrisy of your behavior.
And yes, I am lazy, particularly when there doesn’t really need to be more added to a comment for it to work. Call it a minimalist approach. Nor does the rest of the article change Feinstein’s statement in the least. Even Glenn Greenwald thinks this behavior is embarrassing.
But go ahead and claim that, somehow, Feinstein didn’t say there must be “flexibility” in dealing with “extreme cases.” I mean, “I recognize that there are other views, and I am willing to work with the new administration to consider them,” doesn’t really mean that she’s willing to not push for exclusive use of the Army Field Manual for interrogations like she has during the “Bush torture regime.” Only a cynic would think that she is admitting that an Obama torture regime would be acceptable since he’s a Democrat, I suppose.
I disagree that the Army field manual should apply to the CIA. Their functions and legal obligations are completely different. That is the shallow thinking which can destroy a nation.
…and yet we somehow made it 200 years with the nation destorying notion that torture is wrong.
