Amid the news of yet more BofA layoffs this morning (this from the supposedly strongest bank in America), I was reminded when reading the Morning Constitution that Dave Burris claimed that North Dakota was recession free simply because it was run on the state level by Republicans, all the while ignoring two very large facts: 1) North Dakota has enjoyed overwhelming oil revenues when oil prices were astronomincally high and 2) there were a host of other states across the land that are Republican run yet are also in a recession.
But as Shields reminds us, if Burris wants to claim that the GOP in North Dakota prevented recession during a nation wide depression, he must also accept responsibility for North Dakota’s title as the most corrupt state in the nation (yes, North Dakota is even more corrupt than Illinois).
