State Sen. Karen Peterson Discussed for US Senate In NJ Letters Section
I think Karen Peterson probably likes being talked about like this, so I don;t imagine whe’ll do anyhting to tamp this sort of talk down – but I also think she is not interested in going to Washington DC, otherwise she could have easily taken out Mike Castle this year.
With Senator-designate Ted Kaufman’s pledge to not run for a full term in the 2010 Senate special election, we Delawareans are in for a horse race. There is a broad consensus building that Attorney General Beau Biden will run for the seat after completing his tour in Iraq, and Lt. Gov. John Carney still has a wide base of support that he may utilize to primary Biden for the nomination.
AdvertisementI’m hoping that a primary between Biden and Carney will yield more insight onto what these two men have in plan for this country.
That being said, I am urgently hoping that State Sen. Karen Peterson decides to run for the Democratic nomination. At this month’s Democratic Senate Caucus meeting, Senator Peterson was the only Senator not to vote for dictatorial party stalwart Thurman Adams for President Pro Tempore. In a sharp move of defiance, Peterson risked, as she has throughout her career, her standing with other Democratic senators and party officials.
But Peterson stood up for open government, for “one man, one vote,” against the draconian desk-drawer veto, no matter the consequences.
She is the standard-bearer for the progressive agenda in Delaware’s State Senate, a woman who will stare her colleagues in the eye and challenge their fortitude.
Sen. Peterson is not popular in the State Senate, but thankfully, she sees beyond that.

Well, I hope that there’s not some secret deal that Beau Biden will face no primary opponent. I hope she runs!
She may have not been interested in Congress, but I’d never count her out for the Senate. And, she’d make an excellent US Senator.
I’d write her in over biden.
