Our Readers Are Full of Questions

Another question to Dr. Liberal, which creates questions of its own:

Dear Dr. Liberal,

Why did the Democratic Party spend $750,000 to protect us from markell as the candidate for Governor but put only a fraction of that into races like Insurance Commissioner where they may have made a difference?

It is one of those known unknowns, a mystery of life.   But, in a primary featuring KWS, gReed and crazy Savage, which candidate would you have preferred the party spend its money on?   Who was the white knight to save us from KWS?  Indeed, for those of us here who now regard KWS to be evil incarnate, please begin organizing a primary challenge to her in 2012.

  1. PBaumbach says:

It seems likely that the $750K that the DE Dem Party contributed to Carney’s primary campaign were dollars that were not really available to help other Democratic Party candidates (such as endorsed candidates for Lt. Gov or Ins Comm), but rather were donated to the DE Dems by (Carney supporting) donors who understood the party’s plans to provide strong financial support to Carney, the candidate for the top office in the state, already endorsed by the DE Democratic Party. These donations appeared to have been in practice special purpose, not general purpose, funds of the DE Dem party, earmarked if you will.

    By ‘party’s plans’ I mean Daniello’s plans.

  2. jason330 says:

Paul is right about a good slug of those donations.

  3. Anon2 says:

And that’s what’s wrong with campaign finance laws.

Gene Reed should run again. In hindsight, I’ll bet he now sees the damage he did to himself by taking those insurance $$ from individuals (not companies). And, besides, we now see that one doesn’t need money to run for that office. Her name on the ballot so many other times was worth more than Gene raised. So, now that Gene has some name recognition, he needs to try again. Not only will he be going in with a little name recognition, but he’ll have a barrel full of KWS messes to lay on the table.

The big question here is this: Did you all get your invites to her ‘coronation’ ceremony and big Hotel duPont victory bash? I’m sure anyone can buy at place at her table….

  4. jason330 says:

I keep running to my mailbox, but alas, nothing.

  5. Disbelief says:

Why not send DV naked in a cake he can pop out of? I figure if they’re buying soft insurance regulation, they might as well have a stipper.

  6. cassandra_m says:

We could just crash the party.

  7. Unstable Isotope says:

My invitation must have gotten lost in the mail. She shook my hand at the JJ Dinner, doesn’t that mean we’re great friends?

  8. Rod says:

I’m not sure about Daniello, he never gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. I think he pretends to listen and take advice but does what he wants. Perhaps it’s time for new leadership in Delaware.

  9. Greener Pastures says:

KWS won’t last the whole four years. She’ll go down after two at the most. You watch. If she does, will she get a lifetime pension from the state? Nice gig if you can get it….

  10. Been there done that says:

KWS’s many lies included not taking money from insurance companies. Her carefully worded list of people whose money she supposedly but not likely turned down didn’t include insurance company lawyers all over the country. Check her campaign finance filings. Almost every single contribution from outside of DE came from insurance lawyers. Use your imagination to figure out where that money really came from.
