Markell Still in Town Hall Mode

Filed in Delaware by on January 2, 2009

This came across my email this morning:

Parents, educators and other interested Delawareans are invited to join Governor-elect Jack Markell on Monday, Jan. 5, for a town hall meeting to discuss ways the state’s education system can be made more effective and efficient. This meeting is the latest in a series of town hall discussions Governor-elect Markell is holding to generate ideas from the public as he prepares to take office facing very challenging economic times.

The meeting will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Kent County Administrative Complex on 555 Bay Road in Dover. Please share this invitation with anyone you think may be interested. If you cannot attend the meeting but have ideas, please submit them on www.markelltransition.com

I really hope that he can keep up the public input opportunities.  I just wish that he would have these meetings a little later in the evening so that the gainfully employed could attend…

What’s with Markell and such short notice. What a dweeb. I’ve been throwing so many shoes at Markell, I’m going to have to buy a few new pairs.

And, another thing, 4:30 pm. What does he only want the viewpoints of the unemployed?!

You can send your ideas in via the website. You can also ask them (via the website) to hold these meeting when working people can join in. Or webcast them.

I think you get it, none of these town hall meetings will mean much. The cuts coming in education will be substantial. I hope you report on them with some accuracy.

This town meeting is at this time and at this place so that Markell and others can go to the Minner Dinner in Dover later that evening. Tell me–would Nemski actually go to this meeting if it were at a later time or if Markell had announced it two weeks ago? Really?

BTW, Protack: Shut up. It seems that you drop in on the liberal sites just to keep your hand in. I could almost write your responses for you in advance. They are so unoriginal.

Are there no conservative, Republican blogs where you could hang out?

BTW: Markell is probably hoping that some teachers drop by–they can be there by 4:30. Heck, even a few hockey moms may be able to make it.

Mike Protack wrote I think you get it . . .

    nemski,

You definitely get it. Mike Protack doesn’t.
