Print Journalism is Dead (Psst…Ron Williams Killed it)
Yes The News Journal is edited by blithering idiots, but I think that even they would blanch at printing this banner headline:
“Bush departs with legacy in question”
…and they might feel funny printing this lead sentence to a story about Bush’s legecy…
“Some will remember him as Bush the protector, the president who prevented another terrorist attack from befalling the U.S. on its own soil during his watch.”
Huh…?
“Some” will remember him like that I guess. Those same “some” nine people have mushrooms growing where their brains should be.
SO where is print journalism even worse than here is Delaware? Not Utah, but Greenwich Connecticut.

Yes, I think there’s some question on his legacy:
Will he be considered the worst president ever while clearing brush in Crawford or will he be considered the worst president ever while living in a gated community in Dallas?
Oh how quickly everyone forgets the anthrax attacks and the DC sniper.
Objectivly speaking, is he the worst President ever – or the worst American in ever?
The apologists contend that W’s legacy could be evaluated by history if Iraq becomes a stable democracy in future. There is some truth to that, I think.
The problem is that most of the negatives will stay negative. Time won’t heal the wounds of inaction re: Katrina or the economy (ask Hoover), etc….
Hungary became a stable democracy. Latvia….Lithuania….etc… We nere bombed the shit out of them.
Even by that wingnut measure Bush is an abject failure.
Hungary became a stable democracy. Latvia….Lithuania….etc
Duh. That’s because they enjoy their fine beers and certain distillates! Who wouldn’t be stable in that accepting environment?
If Iraq becomes a stable democracy, it’s because of Iraqis. It won’t have anything to do with Bush. What is the statute of limitations there – 10 years, 20 years?
Before the major market meltdown I would have put the worst presidents in this order:
1) Buchanan – failing to stop the Civil War
2) Hoover – Great Depression
3) Bush
Now my order is
1) Buchanan
2) Bush
3) Hoover
The only question about Bush’s legacy is exactly how much of a failure history will write him up as. And as far as Iraq goes, we should remember that Bush was forced into holding elections in Iraq by the Ayatollah Sistani (rather than the Bush plan of just installing Ahmed Chalabi and running away).
Not to worry: Condi plans to return to Stanford and write a book which we can only imagine will be favorable to Bu$hco.
