Regrets, He’s Had A Few…But Then Again, Too Few To Mention

Filed in National by on January 12, 2009

Let me know if you notice something strange.

One thing Bush hadn’t shared previously was his thinking about Hurricane Katrina, which up until the financial crisis was seen as his biggest domestic failure.

“I’ve thought long and hard about Katrina; you know, could I have done something differently,” he said. Like what? “[L]ike land Air Force One either in New Orleans or Baton Rouge.”

Notice that he is thinking that that PR could have been handled differently. He still does not get that his administration totally and utterly fucked up.

Almost everything I heard of this news conference was about PR failures more than anything else. Which makes some sense since this press conference (and the rest of the legacy tour) is largely about fixing the PR, right?

What burned my biscuits was his comment that the federal response was NOT slow.
How could he say that with a straight face and without his nose growing?
    Heckuvajob, indeed.
He’s a tragic figure with no sense of responsibility for anything he did, or didn’t do.

He doesn’t consider 9/11 a failure? I’d say it was a big one.

“He’s a tragic figure with no sense of responsibility…”I think we will find out by the way he spends his retirement what a pathetic figure he really is. I would not be surprised if he started drinking again , if he ever really quit.
