Filed in National by on January 16, 2009

Except among sore losers like Rick Jensen who hate America and put the Republican Party’s Elephant above the American Eagle, the excitement is building.

This just in from the tip line:

Whistle Stop Train Tour Tomorrow

They are planning a slow roll that will occur at the Claymont station – this may be one of the best and most accessible ways for folks to see Obama as the train will slow down to 2 mph and he will come out on the platform and possibly even shake a few hands.

  1. Seriously, leave early, it was an hour to get through the security at Returns Day at the peak time.

  2. G Rex says:

You left out that folks are supposed to bring a can of food to donate.

  3. Truth Teller says:

Where is Biden getting on in Wilmington I hope

  4. cassandra_m says:

Biden, his family and guests are getting on in Wilmington. The train is supposed to top and the Obamas and Bidens will speak at Harriet Tubman Park next to the station.

The venue is supposed to open at 9:30 AM in Wilmington, and they do ask you to bring a can of food to donate to the Delaware Food Bank.

If you are coming, pay attention to the street closings and limited parking — you are unlikely to be able to use the parking lots right at the station. Traffic will be rerouted around the closed off area. You don’t need a ticket, but you will have to go through security and there are limits to what you can bring in.

The Riverfront Market will be open for hot drinks and food, as will the Perky Bean (I think!) on Market and 3rd.

Dress very warmly — it will be brutally cold.

  5. snippity snoop says:

    Have fun, you lucky bastards.

  6. PBaumbach says:

Security is for the area nearest the stage, which fits more than 5,000 folks. People outside that area won’t need to go through screening (but won’t be as close). There will be at least one jumbotron.

Obama and Biden are expected to speak from 1-2pm, however these things often run late.

  7. I wish it would be colder so the old and frail will stay home
