Matt Taibbi Exit Interviews Bush

Filed in National by on January 17, 2009

Let’s talk about August 6th, 2001. That’s the day you got a memo warning about plans for possible attacks by Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda. What were you doing that day?
I’ll be honest with you. I was at the ranch, on vacation. I was watching the Hall of Fame game on TV. First NFL preseason game of the year, hate to miss it, you know?

  1. I remember several days before 9/11 listening to Howard Stern on my way to school (I commuted daily to Philly going to Temple U). Stern was goofing on Bush for spending so many days of his first year in office on vacation. It did seem Bush spent lots of time “on the ranch” those first eight months.

And look what it’s gotten us.

  2. yes, look….we haven’t been attacked in 7 years hippie!

  3. Unstable Isotope says:

Bush is a 9-to-5 president. Unluckily, all his little elves work around the clock.

Taibbi’s explanation about why Bush wanted to go to Iraq is probably about right!

  4. PBaumbach says:

We haven’t been attacked in 7 years? What rock are you living under?

We have over 4,200 US military deaths in Iraq. They don’t count because we don’t see their coffins?

Over 30,000 US military casualties in Iraq due to hostiles (attacks).

Or do these attacks, deaths, and casualties not count because they did not occur within our borders? How exactly does that work? The last I checked, whether you die in Iraq or the US, you are dead.

  5. Another Mike says:

Who the hell watches the Hall of Fame game?

  6. True says:

We haven’t been attacked in 7 years?

I love how you guys just lop off that first year, like it never happened. Like 9/11 was on somebody else’s watch. Just stop it.
