You can’t be surprised…
TAMPA, Fla. — Brain damage commonly associated with boxers has been found in a sixth deceased former N.F.L. player age 50 or younger, further stoking the debate between many doctors and the league over the significance of such findings.
Gotta’ file that one under “No shit, Sherlock.” We played an intramural game against a team who brought in a ringer who was a Canadian Football pro. He wasn’t good enough for US pros. A guy that big and strong should not be able to move that fast. Glad we were playing touch.

I’m with A1 – lets have less concussions and more masturbation for improved health.
Seriously though, it’s been known for a number of years that having even one concussion in your life increases your chances for Alzheimers.
“Masturbation can be good for the over-50s”
So what about us not quite over 50 yet?
Sorry Mark. Masturbation for under-50s makes you go blind.
Explains my need for trifocals.. I guess this is another positive thing about turning 50 🙂
My son, alway ‘big’ for his age and now a strapping 6’3″, was told constantly what a great footballer he would make.
I would jokingly nix the comments with ‘No, he’s going to stay home and knit with his mother.’ (Of course it didn’t happen.)
Now he is a neuro-surg. resident who is glad he didn’t play many contact sports (except wrestling, judo, snow boarding,etc.). I have heard him caution family members regarding the benefits of helmet wearing .
You know why police & EMTs favor helmets for bikers? So, after an accident, they’ll have something to scoop the scrambled brain into.
Protect you head/brain at all costs.
