Deep Bi-partisan Thought
The sooner President Obama realizes that Republicans simply don’t care about the country, the better off we’ll all be.

Depends how you define country. Republicans define country based on a narrow social agenda and how big their wallets are.
The sooner that liberal Democrats realize that Obama isn’t the partisan that we want him to be…uh, I don’t know what.
I am getting so tired of having Obama kissing the Repuk’s asses. He needs to start kicking ass both Repuk and Dem’s alike.
By reaching out now, he is creating a narrative of “I tried to reach out, but they remained stuck on partisanship.” If that narrative sticks, it will serve him and the Dems well.
Obama hasn’t given the Repubs anything serious yet. Most of the Republican amendments to the Recovery plan would just make it less effective.
There will be plenty of other legislative battles just as important if not more so. This is just the first.
anon is 100% – Obama could have pulled a “decider” and signed liberal partisan legistlation last week. I give him all the credit in the world for putting himself through the ringer. Bush never had the guts to do it. It’ll pay off in the longer term.
I think Obama is making every effort to try to get the Republicans on board. I think he has been surprised by the depths to which the Republicans will sink in order to oppose things that Democrats like. I think we will get a watered-down bill, but I think Democrats will continue to try to get funding for some of the worthy projects.
Man, you guys and gals never seem to mention the 11 or so democrats who voted NO.
11 Democrats voted no. Happy now? Remind me, again, how many Republicans voted yes?
I guess you could just add the dozed blue dog dems into the GOP basket. The reason nobody mentioned it is because it doesn’t really diminish the point. Obama could have passed this in a partisan way but chose this tougher way to at least try to negotiate and get some consenus. The House vote was 244-188 .
P – Good point, Dems are free thinkers! Well, freer anyway… I withheld judgment on W until he proved himself stupid. I didn’t pull a Rush/Steele and wish for failure from day 1.
What’s the big hurry to get this thing pushed through.
Is it because everyday that passes, “free thinking” people see the stimulus package for what it really is and voice their disapproval?

Translation from wingnutese:
…the more braindead sheep listen to talk radio, the more they buy the outright lies about the economic recovery bill.
Oh, h. has it all sorted. Great. At least you have it all figured out. Maybe Obama should have gotten on his knees and begged like Paulson did to get TARP passed… or maybe he just should have jammed it down everyone’s fucking throat like W & Co. did for 8 years. He could have.
I was going to ask you “what is really is” but then I remembered I don’t give a fuck about what you think it is.

I think he [Obama]has been surprised by the depths to which the Republicans will sink ….
Unstable,
He was in the Senate for 6 f***ing years, dealing with Republicans, so why do you think he’s actually “surprised.”
