    Oh and good work on the 99 luft balons. It is better in the original German, rather than the cheesy English translation.

    While Falco was from Austria – he was still awesome. He died much too young.

    99 Luftballons was a big hit in Germany – and the german lyrics are MUCH better. The translation just didn’t quite get the message across the same way.

    I think it was a hit in 1984-85 timeframe. I remember having to sing tis ditty in my college German class. I remembered that the original German version was more powerful than the English translation that was also playing on the radio/MTV at the same time. I might have to drag out some of my class notes to read the original wording again.

    I am glad that this song was resurrected to remind us what might happen if wackjob rulers misuse nuclear power.
